I see you have your stick angled forward Gunner, that's the way to go especially with the FSSB. The real stick is angled forward as well, 12 degrees I think.

My VERY primative Dorm Room setup. Just ordered my Cougar and will be doing the FSSB mod.

So you're probably asking, "How the heck does he move his stick?" Well, I move the keyboard on top of the base of the monitor, and move the stick into its place. It gets kind of crowded, but its just something I gotta deal with.

Ahh cramped quarters, uncovered cinderblock, florescent lighting. That takes me back to the days of salivating over (among other things) LOMAC screen shots in my dorm room, flying F4 on my beat up F-22 and Suncom Throttle.

Do what you can to secure both your elbow and the FSSB once you get the mod. It will help tremendously.

I really need to find a way to rest m arms when I fly. I'll be up there for an hour, and my arms have no support, so by the time I land, I feel like I've been holding my arms strait out, for over an hour. Because I have!!

Computer Setup (Box, monitor, printer, X52, Keyboard)-$2,000
iPod-$400
Motorola RAZR-$300
Knowing you're wasting you're parents money on the coolest hobby there is-Priceless

No Dad, I actually am doing school work. (He reads these forums, just doesn't post anything)

BTW, Gunner, what do you have holding the stick and the throttle down. Looks like some sort of apoxy or sticky tape?

I'm gonna guess and say industrial strength Velcro. I use cable-ties myself.

Btw, seating position and forearm support is extremely important, but that's a whole different topic in its own.

Gunner, those are some neat pics, even the cartoon darwings! They really represent how serious of a hobby this is. I really like your chair, it looks like it works well. I really really need to do something like that in order to insure the smoothest inputs.

I have industrial strength velcro holding my controls to bar stools but I think i need to go a different direction with the whole seating arangement for extreme comfort and functionality.

Thanks for this most recent pic with your chair in it, it gives some good ideas!

LD is correct, What you see under the stick is industrial velcro - I just didn't have it wrapped over for the pic. I would have used zip-ties, but I need to be able to switch out my flying chair for the office chair, and I just remove HOTAS & store under the desk when not in use.

You have any ideas as to what to do with in that regard? I have an office chair that I sit in with the arm rests almost to the top of the desk, but not enough to where i could rest my elbow(s) on the arm rest(s) and reach the stick and throttle. I mean, my right arm would probably be okay after 6 years of baseball and pitching, but then again, different muscle usage. I did have 3 stacks of sticky pads to put my arm on but my elbow just wanted to drop. Any ideas?

Take a picture of your chair with you in it while you're using the HOTAS, I'll see what I can see, otherwise any advice would be a shot in the dark.

For all home builders... Just in case you were wondering how (forward) canted the real F-16 stick is, here's a picture of it:
