The Mach1 is not ANR, but it cancels noise better than most active-NR's and passive-NR's too. It comes with 4 different kind of earplugs, two sets of each. Most are similar to regular earplugs and you can order a bag of replacement ones from LightSpeed. They are disposable, but depending on which kind you use they'll last longer. Some are softer, have more deformation "memory" and feel cheaper (yellow ones), while the blue ones seem to last for quite some time. Just clean them once in a while and you'll only have to buy a dozen new ear pieces maybe once a year.

There are also custom made ear molds for those who want to get rid of the ear pieces altogether. Expensive, but will last you years (until your ear changes shape)...

LD,

Yeah, I've sent the CHROME, BLING BLING version to them.. See Below.

Image

Oakley have been dragging ass for months now & I seem to be able to get them to my doorstep ALOT faster than the TB's have been able to. I know Joanne Hale is busy as a bee & always on the road with the team.

I called FiFi on Wednesday & she said that the team was about to go on a two week road trip. I've gotten her & my buddy "Crank" everyone is ex 494th F-15E folks.. (Mud Hen community sticks together!) some kick ass new 494th FS Sqn polo shirts I fanangled from the SNAKO! So those are going out to Nellis next week!

Hopefully we'll be at Dover for the Thunderbirds show (after Oceana) & i'll be at Aviation Nation kickin' boots with my buds FiFi & Hollywood!

P.S. Man, that visor looks sweet! I wish I had one for my plane instead of my headset... :D (A futile attempt to stay on topic...).

No Problemo..We love to entertain! The MACH Deuce club is a special order, very few get to join!

Being the team's life support guy, i have several helmets. I have three HGU-55s. One combat edge helmet & MBU-20/P mask, my personal HGU-55/P & MBU-20/P HA/LP mask & my HGU-55/P & MBU-12/P mask, (All 2006 Brand New.. No cheap ebay crap here!)

I also have my HGU-55 with the single track visor that is the same the Thunderbirds & Blue Angels fly with, going out for a "kick ass" Starfighters paint job next week.

My day job requires me to fly with Sennheiser & David Clark headsets, but gearing up with my "Speed Jeans", Life Preserver & Cranium Cover is always alot more fun!

He He!.. Like that huh?

That was Rick (Team Boss) & Dave leaving Toronto last year. That was around 470KIAS and they started at about 4ft & ended up around 15-20ft to miss the approach end runway lighting. We'll be back for the Toronto show labour day weekend this year to defends our "Holy Crap that was LOW" title.

Gunner: Our "Lady" was born in 1962, apart from that you are right on the money dude!.. Just for the record, we can out-run the Viper, Hornet, & Tomcat. Those guys couldn't catch us if their lives depended on it. Zero to MACH 1 with full internal fuel takes approximately 62 seconds at standard pressure & temperature.
We've had the two seater to Mach 2.34!.. The single seaters WILL do 2.5 PLUS!! The F-16 & F-18 will crap out at 40,000ft around Mach 1.7 to 1.9. No off the line Viper will do the 2.2 Mach thats published.

We will not switch to the JHMCS helmet that has the AIM-9X target cueing retical & "Some" HUD symbology on it. Those babies cost $119,873.62!!!! I could buy a Ferrari for that!

We don't fly with a HUD because we don't need one. We have a Chelton EFIS Synthetic Vision MFDs, that encompasses our ADI & other Navigational & flight data. The Chelton, has TCAS II, all Approach plates for the US & Canada, our engine FTIT & EGTs, its a very powerful system that brings the aircraft "into date" in the avionics department & makes our job alot easier in the cockpit.

Just like Yeager said, something to the effect of,

"Its a rocket with 2 stubby wings. Thats it"

and

"I believe that rocket has my name on it"

Sorry, been a while since I saw The Right Stuff.

Saw you guys at Oshkosh a couple of years ago. For 40-50 year old birds they still are pretty and can scoot! Keep em Flying!

BTW, where are you able to do Supersonic testing outside of an AFB like Edwards or somewhere like that? I remember NASA brought a Blackbird to Oshkosh one year to go 2+, only to have a gas problem, but they had to get all types of permits and had to be above like FL600 to be able to do it, obviously because they didnt want to bust everyones eardrums and car windows!

Happy Flying!

Wow I didn't know the F-104 is still the fastest jet. I guess it makes sense though. Last year there was an airshow at my home airport with a bunch of F-104's. Every time I would hear the jet I'd run outside to check it out but it had already left (WAY obvious he was going faster than the speed of sound. I did get a good look at it though after it darted out of some trees for about 10 seconds. As for headsets I like to use the MS260.
