Cougar After-Market Mods

Thanks to all who helped in my previous thread regarding no throttle response. As a newbie I'm sure you can all understand how difficult it is getting started sometimes.

Next question....Are most playing with a stock Cougar, or have they been modified? I didn't experience this with Falcon 4.0, but LOMAC seems to have a lot of "bounce" in the pitch axis. I have a factory Cougar, and like you all know, there is a lot of play near the center. It tends to make holding an attitude a lot more work than I had expected.

Any help would be appreciated.

FSSB for wingies and Uber NXT 2 for leads

These third party mods will run you about $500 each. Go to http://cougar.frugalsworld.com/mods.php and scroll all the way down to the bottom for the FSSB by http://www.realsimulator.com/html/fssb.html The other one is the Uber II NXT by Ian Johnston. The FSSB will turn your stick into a force sensor stick base (hence, FSSB) which is essentially the same Fly-by-wire pressure control stick used in the real F-16. You'll also find a lot of tips and tricks at Cougar World to either eliminate or reduce many of the stock Cougar shortcomings.

The centerplay is unfortunately very hard to get rid of, but making sure the handle and other nuts and bolts are tight, you'll reduce further frustration. Also, make sure to set a deadzone in CCP (Cougar Control Panel) that matches or exceeds the centerplay of the stick. You do not want any registered input until there's positive resistance or spring load on the stick. Not the optimum way, but unless someone else has a better solution for a stock Kitty with lots of centerplay that's my best tip...
