Yea he did, and its a maneuver where if you fall behind the power curve too much (because they are heavy into the burners at that point and you have very little throttle left to add) you will definitely lose the boss. Definitely one of the toughest maneuvers they do diamond wise.

Plus, with those older powerplants they may not all be the producing the same thrust the pilot is commanding. Let's add to that, if the Boss was high on the power curve, #2's jet behind the power curve (and a split second pilot mistake) on a warm, humid day with lots of moisture in the air (by the ocean). That would certainly raise the density altitude and lower engine performance...

I found it cool and educational to see. (Plus, it was a blue jet and not a white, but we wont tell... :wink: ).
