A Sad, painful day...

On Sept. 30th of this year the Navy lost the best fighter (in my opinion

) planes ever. So I thought I would leave some great movies of its last time ever on the flight path. Sorry to see these things go, but coming here to AZ to sit on the Davis Monthan AFB. Have to head down there to see if I can spot any.

those were some great videos...i couldnt imaine watching the sunset flight because i know i would have been in tears...(Just makes me hate the hornet even more). But just like the end of the video said it was like the 69 dodge charger it is the embodyment of cool, and it is a legend that will live on forever...

now the question is...will these ever be available for purchase as a still actual flying model?? I have seen f-100 and Migs for sale..now will any newer aircraft be for sale?? Like when the F-15 is replaced and no longer flying. (I know they probably wont be..and if they ever do it wont be for a while due to the fact the ones that werent sold to museums are being held for reserve use at Davis Monthan Air Force Base. But one can dream right??

as of right now. the F-15 is america's only fighter and yes it will be retired by 2010 when we have all the F-22's....atleast thats what I have heard from.

The F-14 is a great airplane, But I was amazed because; The F-14 is out there to protect carriers,...but in its life time, its only shot down 4 enemy aircraft.

I cant belive it would be that low of kills. I feel like I can get alot more than that single handedly, but, the F-14 helped us alot. '

I feel that the F-14 should of got a better ceremony, but, it got what we wanted.

Part from Wikipedia:
The Tomcat's participation in the 1991 Operation Desert Storm was mainly restricted to strike package escort and reconnaissance with air superiority was tasked to USAF F-15 Eagles due to the way the Air Tasking Orders were set up. The emissions from the AWG-9/APG-71 are recognizable with a radar warning receiver. When Iraqi fighters were detected inbound, as soon as the Tomcats "lit up" the Iraqis would immediately abandon the attack while well out of range, perhaps indicating their familiarity with both the Tomcat and the AIM-54 from previous encounters with Iranian F-14s.

The bottom line is, that the United States has never been in a real shooting war with Russia/USSR. Yes there was the "Cold War", but there was never an actual war. Now maybe you read the book by Tom Clancy called Red Storm Rising. In that book, yes there is a war between NATO and Russia, but that book is pure fiction. Yes, some of the things in there are "real" as in that if this were the case of there being a war, that is what would happen, but it is fiction. Just be careful to know what is real and what is not real next time.

i know the book and i know what i read. I didnt mean there was a "WAR" with russia, I was meaning the conflicts with them and other kill tally's along with it. I think I just wrote that reply wrong because I should of worded it different.
