Russian Sukhoi PAK FA

Post by Tailhook » Sun Jul 30, 2006 1:41 pm

Well guys, looks like our government got even dumber by giving out our technology. Ya know, I THOUGHT we had stealth technology and aircraft for a reason!!! To not let our enemies detect us on radar. Well guess what Russia is making over 1,000 F-22 style planes and selling them to countries across the globe.....I'm sorry but how stupid is our government now??? Anybody wanna answer that??
"It is intended to replace the MiG-29 and Su-27 in the Russian Air Force. It is scheduled to have its first flight in 2007, and enter service with the Russian Air Force sometime between 2012 and 2015."

No! I thought we already had this discussion this morning about political debates in the forums Viper...

As far as the Raptor, without taking anything away from Russian technology and design, the Raptor's capabilities and weapons systems are not even close to be known to anyone in the general public nor other countries and will far surpass anything in public knowledge.

You're kidding right!?

Why would anyone be worried?...

They'll make it, take it to the Paris & Dubai airshows & proceed to crash it infront of the ordering public like they do with all their new fighters!

Russia has been importing American aerospace technology for DECADES. In all the russian copies the results are usually the same. The Russian model is cheaper to produce but inferior to its American master model. If this sort of event is new then the the B-1 Bomber is new, as is the F-86 Mach 1+ intake design, the list goes on and on. Not to mention Russia isn't going to be selling any $300M+ airplanes on the world market, so the word value engineering wouldn't even come close to describing the driving factor behind this project.

You have to love the shamelessness of the design, its a pretty ballsy copy job. Like they copy-pasted the F-22 body with the Su-35 thrust vectoring exhaust nozzles, deleting the ordinance bay.

I agree on that Burner but the russians TU-160 (copied from the B-1B) is actually quite more impressive with respect to performance and its envelope, even though they pretty much stole the design from the USA.

Hmm...lets See, what all have the Russians stole-
B-29--->The Tu-85
F-15---->Their Mig29 looks an awful lot like the Eagle
The Blackjack

Countless other aircraft designs, but those are the ones I could think of.

Also, think back to WWII weapon design. Doesnt the Kaleshnikov rifles look a lot like the German StG 44?

Honestly, name me one thing that the Russians havent in some way copied?

What you've got to remember also, is that Russia, for it's size, has a HORRIBLE economy. Remember how they just left multi-million dollar attack submarines (Nuclear Powered at that) sitting in port unmaintained? And now they cant be used again. They would probably be able to build maybe 4 of these and say enough because they dont have the $ to do it. The "Big Bear" is not what it used to be folks.

Happy Flying!

You just have to look at the source - Wikipedia. There is no such aircraft or plans to make it! You'll notice in the pictures the copyright says http://www.planespictures.com. It's a website featuring CG images of ficitious planes.

one thing, your talking about the name by www.planepictures.com, but check out the name, it sure looks russian to me.

And burner, striker is right cause Russia copied our B-1 with the Tu-160. Mig-21 to the F-104. They copied our F-14 with the Su-27 and 33. F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 with the Mig-29. Mig-23 with the F-4 and F-111. Mig-17 with the F-5 and the list can go on!! (I did research it all too)

Not to mention Russia stole our technology in history... Up until 2003 and we started SELLING our "STEALTH" technology to Russia. The only thing that really makes me mad about this is because the F-22 isn't even out of "Testing" yet and the USAF only has about 10 Raptors total as of right now. And the Russian's are already building something that could either blow us out of the sky or just try and match our fighters. While we are still in the manufacturing stage.

Quote from Wikipedia:
"However, this will be Russia's first attempt at making a "stealth" aircraft. There is no certainty for now what United States aircraft will be the competitor for the PAK-FA. While some believe it will be the F-35, the information so far seems to indicate it will be the F-22. Without further official information, is not viable to reach a final conclusion in this matter."

It's all a moot point! My two cents...
