New Cougar profile for download

Post by Lawndart » Wed May 31, 2006 4:59 pm

VTB_002.zip contains some additional view commands for Foxy. The H3 (hat switch 3) has a bunch of snap views allowing you to glance left, right, up, down (until released) while still maintaining padlock. The T3 (out) (throttle rocker left) now has a zoomed in view of the Tachometers instead of it's previous button assignment for as long as held and when released resumes padlock. Basically they all work the same way as "HUD zoom snap view" (which remains the same in this setup).

Uses for these views include: #4 glancing over and flying off #3 during the Hi-Lo Hit (H3 right). #6 glancing over and flying line abreast with #5 during the Delta Loop Blue Out (H3 left). Any pilot glancing up and trailing the smoke during the Thunderbird Pitch downwind turn (H3 up). Any pilot glancing down to verify gear, flaps (H3 down). Boss or Lead Solo glancing down and setting power levels during setups (T3 left).

Everything else should be the same as the previous version. VTB_002.zip, that contains the Foxy files, CCP profile and images illustrating curve settings as well as the Cougar layout image can be downloaded here: www.virtualthunderbirds.com/files.html

Just noticed while i was getting use to the new views:

While holding down NP0, i can use my POV hat1 to activate all 8 snap views!

Thanks for helping me with the new views LD.

I was just trying to get a snap view (up-right) for #4 in the Hi-Low hit. So i could glance at #3 and still maintain a padlock on Boss. The end result is we got much more.

Holding down the KP0 before selecting the next KP# was the missing link!

LD has made a profile to D/L.
I have the placed the L/R views on the throttle to avoid unwanted movement on my stick hand. Very good stuff.

I never thought about using Snap Views for anything else than the HUD and Tach's, so it seemed strange to stumble across this benign find of using "KP0+Any NumPad Key", when it was already widely used for many other views (KP0+KP5=HUD Snap View for example).

btw, the profile to d/l is the same as the one mentioned up top (VTB_002.zip), as to not cause any confusion that there is a newer version again. Grab it from the files page.

VTB_002.zip fixed. The archive on our site had the old macro file linked in the joystick file in Foxy. It's now fixed in case anyone ran into any problems downloading the profile to their Cougar.

Thanks to Cinch for pointing this out!
