Tyndall AFB
Hey all, this is my first post here. I just got back from watching the arrival show of the Thunderbirds here at Tyndall AFB. Hope some of you guys are going to make it out to see the show this weekend. Can't wait to see it. Of course we'll have the Raptors flying by (a Raptor and Eagle fly by, then 2 fly bys of the raptor and the eagle on their own).
Here's a rundown of the current operations schedule that I got from a friend at the airfield operations desk. This schedule is for Saturday and Sunday. If any of you work at Tyndall (like myself) beginning at 1300 on Friday, there is going to be flying all day from the demo teams, including a Thunderbird show starting at 1515 with the walkdown and demo, and then 1545 they do the full show. then at 1840 the golden knights perform and some others go till around 2030. Without further adieu, here's the weekend lineup.

Hey thanks for the info, but as I know from being in the military it is not a good practice to post times of performances, I just went thru 3 days of Training about what types of information should be posted on blogs and fourms. With all the security issues, the best practice is not to post them, thats why they dont post them on the Airshow's web site. This is just information I thought I would share, but your good to go dont worry about it this time, just be sure to pm say the people you would like to share information like this.

I appreciate your concern, but this is not private information. Flyers will be handed out all day tomorrow, saturday and sunday with this information, I just happened to get it a little early. But yes, typically it is not a good idea to post this sort of information. You going to make it out?

EDIT: I went back and took times out, just to try and not look like an idiot on my first post here. Have a good one.

Onics,
Let us know how the "warm-up show" goes Friday! I want all the gory details... Mmmmm... I'm planning on being there this weekend. Also, like Cinch said posting times may be a security sensitive issue. Just FYI, they can be found on the Tyndall airshow page @: http://tyndall.schultzairshows.com/ Seems both of you are correct! Here's hoping for good weather and two great days of demo's!

So, here's the deal with today's performance...
The show started off nice (as we all love afterburner), and a local news anchor was granted the opportunity to take a ride in the #8 aircraft. The show seemed to be more of a relaxed practice rather than a demo... The jets were flying nicely, but it just didn't seem right. Most of the passes that were supposed to be at the center were pretty far off. I was standing at center and they were sometimes what appeared to be 3-400 feet right of center. They also seemed to be out of sight for a decent portion of the performance. I know they are not always supposed to be in the spotlight, so that the solo's get some attention, but there were periods of time when you couldn't see or even hear the jets, which is strange to me.
All in all, the show was mediokre I thought, and I was expecting more.
Again, this may be because it was the Friday show, and not the actual full blown Saturday performance. They stayed airborne for about 20 minutes after the close of the performance so that they could 'continue their practice' as the announcer called it. I am going out again tomorrow for the full airshow, and I can not wait to see the Super Hornet. I saw most of it's performance from a good ways away as I was driving over to the flightline. Only saw the low speed high aoa pass and landing when I got there. What I saw on my way was enough to tell me that I really need to be there tomorrow to watch the whole thing. G'night all.

Saturday @ Tyndall was great! Boss's nosewheel steering malfunctioned during the initial turnout from parking and delayed the show for approx 30 minutes as he disembarked (right in front of the crowd) and was driven over to the spare jet in a van. Nice Job by "TC" for the improv! Aside from that, a great show by the Thunderbirds! The weather was gorgeous! The Thunderbirds still rocked best, but the Super Hornet demo was cool too, especially the 90 degree "push-over's" they do from vertical climbs! I also got to meet all officers and (for once!) got all their autographs on one poster including the well sought after one by "Fifi"!
Going back tomorrow! Go Thunderbirds!

I was out Saturday, but had to leave before the Thunderbirds to take care of some things that came up. That and I had a killer blister from wearing flip flops. The Super Hornet was definitely awesome. I wish I'd stayed around to see the Thunderbirds. I'm sure their show was better than Fridays. I noticed that there was a problem with one of the birds (looked like 3 or 4) because I saw the maintainers bring out the hydraulic mule, but I never knew what it was (because I am not familiar with F-16 systems really). Anyhow, hope you all have/had a good one. I may go back up there today just to watch the super hornet, but I'll probably watch the show from the bay.

Awesome experience @ Tyndall! I'll try to post a review when I get a chance, but it was one of the best airshow experiences I've had. We got more than we bargained for out of this show (no kidding) and some of it we'll share with ya'll in the near future sometime...
