Flaps settings

Post by Hollywood » Fri Oct 21, 2005 8:56 pm

Combat flaps in multi-player never show as combat flaps, they show up as full flaps when your looking at other aircraft.. If anyone from the VTB's can comfirm the same findings in their flights plz feel free to reply back..

We found the same thing in initial testing. No way to verify the flap setting from outside anymore, but at least it shows UP vs. DOWN. We'll make sure ED is aware...

Sounds like ED is removing the "combat flaps" from the F-15C in Lock-On. Their sollution to the intermediate flap position not being seen from outside in MP games is that the F-15C doesn't really have this setting for real, so instead of fixing the flap view bug they're removing the combat flap setting from what it sounds like leaving only flaps UP or DOWN as settings. I hope I'm wrong...

I could have sworn the F-15 had both half and full flap settings. Some photo inspection would produce an answer either a detailed cockpit photo or multiple external shots on landing approach.

Found this in the internet FAQ archives for The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle
The large-area wings, sometimes referred as the "tennis court", give low wing loading and excellent agility for such a big aircraft. They have outboard ailerons and inboard two-position flaps, but there are no high-lift schemes such as leading-edge slats, flaps, or a blown-flaps system, since the big wing provides good low-speed handling without them.
If it's true that ED is taking the combat flaps out, we'll have to "re-invent" the parameters and procedures again!

Here's the official word from Han (VFTC/ED) regarding the removal of combat flaps over at the lockon.ru forums:
