VTB mod now using ModMan

Post by Lawndart » Fri Jul 04, 2008 5:02 pm

Because laziness or no need for change, we haven't made the switch from LoMan to ModMan... until now!

Our Virtual Thunderbirds Mod is now using ModMan to install. At this time the mod itself is the same (v2.5), but packaged to work with ModMan instead. The files page has been updated accordingly with the ModMan mod. Using ModMan makes it easier on everyone in the community since the majority of mods available for LockOn nowadays use ModMan to manage mods. So, we've decided to stop being stubborn... :D

To download ModMan follow the link in the Mother of All Stickies thread.

If you currently have the VTB mod installed (with LoMan 2.1) and would like to make the switch. Follow these steps:
  1. Reinstall the VTB mod (over your old installation) using LoMan, simply to re-write all the files fresh.
  2. As soon as step 1 is complete, hit uninstall and remove all contents of the VTB mod using LoMan 2.1 (these two steps help ensure no "residue" such as red flightsuits, or F-16 cockpit location is kept despite trying to uninstall).
  3. Load LockOn and verify the menu graphics are back to default and hit FLY on the F-15 quick mission. Double check for proper cockpit position (F1 view) as seen by "no clipping" and the pilot flightsuit should be the standard issue greenbag. If everything is back to default then proceed, otherwise reinstall/uninstall again (steps 1, 2 & 3).
  4. Using ModMan version 6.3.0.1 or newer; Install the *new* VTB mod and you're done!

It was possible last week, when I installed for the first time LockOn Gold + patch + LOMAN + VTB skinmod, that LOMAN had some graphics issues in tiles rendering?

After I start LOMAC using your skin, after some flying minutes, all tiles in the sky going 'crazy'... and from this moment both in LOMAC and in OF all tiles were wrong, so I reformatted my PC and reinstalled OF, and now OF works good.

Now I'm ready to reinstall LOMAC + VTB skin. I read to use MODMAN instead LOMAN. Correct?

First off, your problem sounds unrelated to the mod or any add-on manager. Sounds like a graphics card issue, drivers or settings. Check your video drivers/settings...

Secondly, yes as explained, download the new file and use ModMan.

Ok, downloaded...

Today I'll try to correctly install LOMAC GOLD + VTB skin. Now my GPU works correctly I hope to have no problems in LOMAC ;) !!
Thank you for the patience with a LOMAC 'newbie' like me :)
Have a nice weekend!!

Ok I've installed everything and it seems to works correctly.
One question (from a newbie.... ;) ): Every time I have to load Lock-On I have to put my FC cd into my DVD drive?

Is there a Ubisoft patch for those (like me) that have purchased the original, but don't want to put cd everytime in the drive?

And for joystick controls: I use Thrustmaster TopGun Afterburner II HOTAS. I have created a LOMAC profile with Thrustmapper software, to assign functions to throttle's buttons, but when I load LOMAC my settings are not loaded, why? Thrustmapper loads ok.
What I have to do, remap the single throttle keys into LOMAC options?

Thanks ;)

With the CD version of FC (after the latest patch; 1.12b) it should check for your disc weekly. So, yes because of StarForce copy protection you'll need to insert the disc every now and then. There is no fix for this, unless you buy the Web version of FC instead.

Patience!! :(
I'll insert the cd every time, until a fix will be released ( IF it will be released :) )...

Now I'm practicing with the F-15 cockpit, to know where are and how to use the principal instruments...
