Arcadish is a loose term. F4 beats Lock-On hands-down when it comes to avionics and radar modeling and although Lock-On comes short in many areas, three areas exceed F4 (and other sims) in my opinion: 1) Multiplayer netcode, 2) Visuals, and 3) Flight dynamics. For obvious reasons, we could care less about the accuracy of aircraft systems or avionics while we fly, but more about having the fluidness of a far superior code than any other sim I've seen thus far. Besides, I'd even stretch things as far as saying Lock-On has better flight characteristics/dynamics too and it also looks a lot better than the outdated (even updated F4:AF), but that's where the positives stop with this sim. Just IMHO and the reason we fly Lock-On and not any other sim. People have also asked if we're going to make the switch to Fighter Ops whenever it is released and to answer that: If it delivers netcode, visuals and flight dynamics better than what we currently have, probably! If one of these areas fail to deliver higher quality than what we presently have (especially the netcode), then the answer is: No! Doesn't matter if the sim is great in every other aspect, we know what we're talking about when it comes down to netcode and stability on this team...

Thank you, LawnDart. That was the kind of answer I was hoping to get from the team.

I was not, by all means, trying to provoke a Falcon vs Lomac war. My question was, like I said, out of mere curiosity. I am not a real world pilot, so I can now avail for any of the flight dynamics. I was hoping, thought, that you could clarify the reasons for me, and you did.

Again, thank you.

I'm in the VIAF that is a virtual air forse for falcon, I know very well falcon AF and I think that is the best for the dogfight and navigation (but its A LOT difficult to understand).
Lomac is the best for the aerobatic teams and for me he have a graphic splendid ever (in the simulations of course).
I try to do formation with Af but if u came very close with another aircraft the is an effect that looks like LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG.
Lomac RULEZ so :P

@Razor-71, I don't think Open Falcon was released when the last post prior to your response was made in this thread (the previous post is almost 3 years old).

In our experience Falcon has never met the netcode performance LockOn has for close formation flying. Panther might be able to tell you more, as she flies Falcon regularly.

:D Thank you Lawndart,
Today I bought also LockOn Gold from Amazon.co.uk, so I can try some evolutions with another sim!!! ;)
When it arrives to me, I'll try to download and apply your patches to try to fly with a TB F-16... :D

Been there done that. Lockon has much better net code for formation flying. In Falcon, any version you can see yourself in formation but others see you in a different location on the wing.

One other draw back, the recording of a show. You don't have much options like in Lockon with the tracks.

So, I'm very curious to try LOMAC... now I'm waiting on my copy of the game from the UK. :)
I bought Lock On Gold... while I am waiting for it to arrive, I have downloaded the patch called Lock+ON+Patch+-+Lock+ON+Gold+to+1.12a... It is the right patch for my UK version of the sim?

And, how can I upgrade to the 1.12b version?

This is kind of off topic, but the the only difference is that the 1.12b patch was made for Vista & XP (1.12a was released earlier and is XP only).

Be sure to check out all the links under our LockOn section of the Mother of all Stickies thread. It will save you lots of headaches! ;)

To better answer your LockOn specific questions, the ED forums have good info. Simply 'search' and you'll usually find answers such as... this one!
