Anyone have another source for that video? The CNN monkey put the CNN topic border at the bottom of the screen obscuring the plane at the crucial moment when the plane transitioned from a high-g right turn to an unloaded decending attitude. I'd say that the video still leaves just about all possibilities on the table. The pilot was in a max-g turn for the rejoin- so it could have been g-loc. He looks close to the tree line (however that could be an optical illusion) but the swiftness that his attitude changed from nose level to nose down could point to a collision or a mechanical/structural failure.
However whatever caused him to get into the banked nose low attitude it seems like ejection was not an option.

CBS affiliate WTOC-11 has a report here that the data recorder has been recovered. You may recognize the member of the Aircraft Mishap Board is Captain Russ Bartlett, the Blue Angels Boss for the 2003-2004 seasons.
Also, Rob Reider, who was a close friend of Kevin, has assembled a wonderful tribute to him on his latest podcast. Airshow Cast.

Hey LD, i think you might want to check your air show photo archives. I remember we both went to the Blue Angels air show in jacksonville, FL last year and we both posted our pics and for some reason i remembered this specific pic. Well i reviewed that post and saw this picture. Great shot LD, check out our man and fellow pilot Kevin Davis in the mic.

I'm not able to pull up the official source from where I'm at, but it sounds like it was recently released.

@Viper, it's "Oh God, YOU'RE gonna get it"... (although I have no idea what you are talking about). C'mon now man... you ought to (or "outta") know this by now.
@Pretender, "LOL" is not the kind of internet slang I'd choose to use on this topic whether you feel it's funny (?) that the Blue Angels have had mishaps in the past or not.
