Guess what I'm doing on a friday night
Nvidia 8800 Series - Reality Redefined
You got to love it hey Gunner
I have been using my 8800 for about 2 weeks now and it is the best
thing since sliced bread. I have everything maxed out on the card and in Lock-On and it is glass smooth.
As Rotorbalde had told me once, this upgrade was one that you could significantly see the difference.
I love it.

Rgr, this really is a great card. I have yet to find a game that it doesn't simply chew up and spit out with everything maxed out + x16AA + x16AF.Racer wrote:Well, on the performance card setting I am up to 9083.
No complaints here.
Though while we're on the topic of high end PCs for anyone following this thread. Do NOT buy the eVGA 680i mobo as there is an unreconciled Sata Error affecting to some degree about 75% of the users out there. I have a very mild form of the bug but still get lockups during high read periods every once in a while. Though there are users out there who cannot load any read/write intensive programs period w/o lock ups and BSODs. eVGA has acknoledged the problem but I doubt a Bios update is forthcoming as the whole situation reeks of manufacturing defects and a mass RMA.

I'm still in the 30 day window with NewEgg for a return. If nVidia officially announces that they have a Bios fix forthcoming then I'll hold onto it. When its working I absolutely love this board.
If they stay ambiguous about whether this is going to require a revision-b production run and an RMA then I'll probably trade it in for a P5W or P5B and wait until I buy another 8800GTX down the line b/f upgrading to an SLi capable board.

Wow that sucks, what exacly is it doing (or not doing). What have you tried so far to rectify the problem. Rotorblade is a pro IT guy and I'm no slouch, we should run through some troubleshooting b/f you RMA the sucker.
Also just wanted to update everyone- eVGA has released a beta BIOS update for the Sata issue. I haven't updated and am waiting on the full release in a few days but most on the eVGA board who have flashed the beta have said it has fixed their issues. So I'm keeping the board and once I get the new BIOS in I plan on OCing the ram a bit as well as tightening up the timing to 4-4-4-12.
