Arrowhead Loop reference

Post by Tomcat » Sat May 24, 2008 5:10 pm

Hi again, got (another) question for you guys.

I'm trying (for the second time now) to make a Thunderbirds airshow on another simulator (YSFlight) all by myself and I'm having some trouble with the arrowhead loop. I've managed to fly as #4 relatively well, but it's the wings that I'm having trouble with. So I just wanted to ask: When they're flying for #4, which craft do #2 and #3 use as reference to keep in formation? Do they still keep their eyes on #1 during the manouevre or do they shift to #4?

The Arrowhead formation is a mix of both. Try to line up #4's missile rail with #1's speed brake. You'll also need to reference the Leader and your best point of reference for that is the front tip of the near ventral fin against the leading edge of #1's wing. Also, another cross check you can do is to look directly sideways on #4 and your head should be abeam his engine nozzle. This aligns your wingtip with the wingtips of #1/4 and from an outside point of view, the nose of #2/3 is abeam the trailing edge of #4's wing.
