Virtual Video Idea

Post by necigrad » Thu Nov 29, 2007 5:10 pm

After seeing the airshow site, and seeing the Virtual Oshkosh on it, I had an idea. Since this is the Virtual Thunderbirds, and the real T'Birds are at Nellis, why not a Virtual Aviation Nation? I probabyl don't have any of the needed skills, but it would be cool to see someone or a group do at least a lot of the Aviation Nation flying demos. SeanTucker/Ed Hammil, the staged dogfights, etc. Those segments haven't, that I've seen, entered the virtual world yet.

Seeing how there aren't Extras and Pitts in the sim that the VTB and we fly, it would be kind of hard. I'm sure you could get a heritage flight accomplished (more on this later stay tuned!) but beyond that we are limited to what we as teams can do with the sim. There are a few virtual airshows organized on FS2004 that accomplish some of this.

I help run a bunch of virtual airshows using FS2004 that have a little bit of everything - military demos, warbirds, aerobatics, even helicopters. We're always looking for more people to fly so if you're interested just let me know. The next show is December 8th at 1PM eastern.

Any chance you all are looking for an F-14 tac-demo? :)

I only fly FSX though.

Actually I was thinking X Plane would be the best sim, overall for airshows in general. I've never owned it, but probably will pick up 9.0 whenever I get the money. I'm reeasonably certain X Plane has pretty much every aircraft out there, and the models are at worst mostly realistic.

or not....
I'm working on it now, experimenting a bit because I have little to no experience with high quality skins.

Got Ice's permission Wednesday, and been busy with other things since, so I'm just getting started now.

Otherwise, if someone wants to do something like that in FS2004, or LOFC I'm here! :D

Well we've got the acts locked in for this show, but there will be others so AIM me and I'll try to let you know when we're flying if you want. We run everything through the AirshowBuzz boards so you can watch there for any upcoming shows. Of course you can come watch this show, Saturday at 1PM! There's also a boat race with the winner getting the (payware) Aerosoft Super Cub.

Here's the thread on ASB:

If you (or anyone else) want to watch, you'll want to download the aircraft pack, and the boat I left out of the pack on accident.
