Digital connection between PC and HDTV

Post by necigrad » Sun Apr 01, 2007 1:04 pm

So I got my 60" SXRD and love it. Watched Smoke On through an S Video connection and it was actually pretty good, though not great quality wise. My laptop (prefered comp for TV) only has a VGA port for an external monitor, or the S Video hookup. Is there a way to get a digital signal to the HDMI via a PCIMIA card or something?

Also, just since I'm posting... If you ever "remaster" the video, check out the sound volume. One of the things I noticed was that the engine noise at startup, and more importantly on the sneak pass the volume of the engines is probably at least a little too quiet.

There's DVI to HDMI adapters. You'll need a digital output source to get the quality your looking for. Unfortunately, not many laptops have DVI ports.

I suppose you could try a VGA (analog) to DVI converter and then HDMI, but you'll be limited by the analog output. If you have a desktop nearby, getting a 6-16ft DVI to HDMI cable is your best bet!

As far as re-mastering Smoke On, I've more or less written off this movie. There will be bigger (!) and better things in the future! Ok, well... maybe not bigger as in length or size wise, but mucho grande improved in all areas.

Oh well, was hoping. Guess it's just not to be. Good luck on the next one.
