Virtual Thunderbird No. 6 & No. 2 went to JAX NAS Sunday, October 29. Great show and picture perfect weather! Smooth air, no wind, no clouds, few particles because of a recent frontal passage made for some great flying. Good to see all the differences between the two best teams in North America and the more you learn, you realize how dramatically different the shows are between the two teams, yet for most normal people they wouldn't be able to tell them apart.
The amount of breakouts and rejoins the Blues perform is probably the most impressive feat! The Thunderbirds timing is still faster, but the Blues seem to have stepped up their "gaps" since last time I saw them. Loved the takeoff sequence between the Diamond and the Solos. Now, that was cool! Took some pictures and was hoping for comms (but they must have used a new frequency, cause none of the 40-some frequencies I had stored in the scanner and previously confirmed worked today). I know Rhino wanted some comms among others, but we came up short on that unfortunately. Wasn't really going for any pics, but decided to snap a few anyways. These are only from a Canon PowerShot (point and shoot) camera, so the quality is what it is. If anyone would still like a higher res image (the ramp shots possibly) we have those available.
We certainly did enjoy the show though! Now we're heading off to see the Thunderbirds at the end of their homecoming back at Nellis in two weeks. It's not every year you get to see both these teams perform at the peak of their seasons!
