Yeh, I saw that Rhino, and with the 15 day satisfaction guarantee, the risk is only $33 plus shipping to give it a try. Come to think about it, if someone told me they would let me use one for a couple weeks for $50, I wouldn't hesitate!!

Another thing to think about Burner - if this this is a good as the reviewer makes it sound, a system upgrade can maybe wait. If your system sees this as a 800 x 600 monitor, and it works in any game...

I just spoke to one of the Technical Guru's from Matrox Graphics Inc., makers of the TripleHead2GO. They've received a lot of requests and are considering making a device for widescreens, since many people nowadays buy and use 16:10 and 16:9 ratio screens. In the current box you can only select dual monitor support for screens with a native resolution of 1680x1050 with the Mode Expander Tool software applet. Looks like true widescreen support in triple configuration is in the works (or at least considered). For a 1680x1050 screen times three, that's 5040x1050 total viewing area. That would certainly complement and add more potential customers to Matrox and their 5:4 and 4:3 aspect ratio modes currently supported with three screens with the TripleHead2GO.

Talk about panoramic peripheral vision if it ends up going widescreen!!!

Between this and eMagin's goggles, the future holds a tough decision (for Gunner :lol: :wink: ... Alright, a few of us others too maybe). Btw, eMagin may be working on Z1000's (hypothetically) with resolutions of at least 1024x768, plus I'm sure a lot of tweaks for less blurriness with quick head movement/panning.

Seriously tho LD,

Remember, my only beef with Triplehead is vertical FOV...if you take horizontal view out even further, you may end up with a very wide view from the top of your HUD to the bottom :wink:

I still havn't found a satisfactory workaround for increasing the FOV in LOMAC to give an equivalent vertical view angle. When I was in correct trail position monday night, I could barely see anything other than Bon's nose and intake.

This does pose somewhat of an issue, unless it's "tweakable" in Lock-On. Although it wouldn't be dramatically worse than it is now with a widescreen triple head. Besides, this (widescreen or greater panoramic FOV) is what all technology seems to be moving towards (judging by Matrox's response and the FOV discussions at 3DVisor forums). Hopefully, the sim developers such as Eagle Dynamics will catch drift!!!

Racer, are you having any kind of view limiting issues in the vertical while panning your in cockpit view and using the TripleHead? Does it crop the picture (put a hard stop) before your vertical FOV reaches the same view as on a single screen?

Looking up, I can pan all the way vertical. Looking down, I can pan only as far as bottom of ADI. The big issue, is when padlocked, you can't zoom out far enough to have an equivalent vertical angle of view. (Horizontal is great obviously)

Are you certain you can pan all the way up, but just not down?

This is definitely a view limitation imposed by Lock-On (as default is not to have three times the width of normal aspect ratio). It's not a zoom issue, cause any time you zoom it changes the relative size of objects in relation to center (fisheye effect). There's got to be a way to change the view limit hard stops while panning in Lock-On or to disable them altogether (basically allowing you to rotate your head through your chest and back over your neck all the way down to the HUD again). I wouldn't search for anything to do with zoom (the less fisheye, the better and zooming out in cockpit only gives you more), but instead focus on these "stops". I'm sure there's a command you can enter in a lua or cfg file and change its value = false, thereby allowing you to see further down while in cockpit. It may not be listed in the file by default, since there are commands you can add that are currently not saved nor listed in the settings files. Example of this is the FPS limiter command that you can add in the graphics.cfg (not related to the issue at hand per se, but just to illustrate there are command strings that could accomplish desired results through modifying lua's or cfg's).

Either find a way to disable the stops OR change the vertical FOV camera angle limits would be my best bet!

Have you asked if others with the TripleHead are experiencing the same in Lock-On?

I've spent hours serching forums, and this very thing is the common issue with LOMAC. I'm afraid I may not be getting my main concern across - LD, I care much more about my field of view when padlocked than seeing my virtual lap :wink: . You could simulate my problem on your widescreen monitor, by tapeing off a couple of inches at the top and bottom of your monitor(don't really do it LD, you'll get sticky sh*t all over your monitor for God's sake :lol: )
Here's what I don't understand. I use a widescreen monitor and it crops off a good inch at the top and the bottom of the screen compared to my other 4:3 ratrio screen; however, it does not limit me from panning all the way in any direction!

Read RichieG's (Matrox Tech Supp) response towards the bottom of the page. That should get you started in the right direction... (if it doesn't solve it).

LD,

When I load up the TrackIR4 and hit the F12 looking straight ahead in the cockpit, I can look straight up and see the double arrow lift line on the top of the canopy right at the lower base edge of the center monitor. I can then look straight down and I see the base of the stick at the bottom edge of the center screen. I also see most of the legs too.
This is with the A-10 model.
It was the same when I had only one monitor.
Here is my graphic cfg.

LD, that is the thread that enabled me to get it zoomed out enough to at least be flyable. Racer, that is exactly what I have in my Graphic.cfg

I love the triplehead for flying wing, but the vertical limitations and cropping is frustrating. :cry:

I know what you are saying about the cropping LD, but when you realize that your ratio is 16:9, and triplehead is 4:1 and you think about how much has to be cropped, maybe it makes sense.

If both of you are running the same setup, how come Racer can see the base of the stick and most of the legs while panning down and your view ends at the instrument panel? :?

OT: I'd take your trail view any day over mine. At least you have a lot more paint to fly off of. I don't look at my own in cockpit references much when I fly paint (I sometimes even turn the annoying canopy rails off. The more of Boss' aircraft... i.e. paint, I see, the better. But then I miss the canopy reflections. Wish there was a way to have reflections but no cockpit and rails). To finish my OT, I don't even fly with any canopy rails... :wink:

What I would like to know; however, is exactly what Racer sees when he pans all the way down in the F-15 cockpit and takes a screenshot and then compare it to Gunner's equivalent. If there's a difference, there's a solution! 8)
