A few screenies from last night...

Post by Gunner » Wed Aug 16, 2006 6:33 pm

I wasn't going to fly last night, partly 'cause of some work I had to finish up, and I hate to sound like a wimp, but my hand was killing me after the 162 maneuvers I flew the day before...but then Lawndart comes into Ventrilo and says, wanna go flyin? Can't say no to the VTB!

LD, Rock, Convertable - I know my fellow newbie Fury will echo my thanks for an awesome practice sortie!! :D

I had a chance to do something totally new to me - halfway through the sortie, LD and I switched places & he took #3, I flew outside right wing in the delta. Holy Snikies - Striker, LD...you guys are Sierra Hotel!!! I had a blast, even tho I mucked things up half the time

A few screenies:
BTW - Burner here you go...

Into the float...from #6 perspective - at least as close as I could get!

Back in with the pull...

...and rolling

If someone had told me two months ago I'd be seeing this from my cockpit, I'da thought they were nuts

Thanks guys :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: :!:

Roger that Burner - 'course as I've been practicing rolls in #3 position, half the time I end up finishing the roll in #6 position

...The more I do this, and the better I get, the more respect I have for the best of the best!

Great shots Gunner!

Thank you to all the VTBs that let me fly and lend me a hand though the learning process (Bunner, Striker, LD, Red, Bon and company) and cared to enough to critique (thanx LD). That was painful and fun. I'm developing new wrist muscles. Also, thank you Gunner, you have been an incredible source of info and knowledge.

Red, the only way I can respond to that is to echo Striker regarding line abreast:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I've been accused of being very right-wing...I think I'll stay that way

Don't worry, I think I have another 10,000 maneuvers before I'm a threat.

Heck, I started off as "left wing qualified" then out of necessity of my role, had to learn right wing. Now, while I can fly both to a certain degree, it just doesn't begin to compare how much more comfortable I am on right wing in the aerobatics arena.

As any formation flyer should be, it's my personal belief that you should be able to fly wing on either side in a combat/tactical formation environment (or enroute), but when it comes to aerobatics you have to train to proficiency (precision) on one side or the other! As such, I'm considering myself "right wing qualified", but not left, even though I can fly both as a pilot.

P.S. You won't need another ten thousand rolls to be solid, but I'm certain (and quite frankly, a little frigthened) that you'll do just that anyway!

I see. I thought that when 1.12 came out you guys flew with flaps up, and VTB's chose to fly in 1.1 since they prefer combat flaps down. Either way it's cool, I was just asking.
