Aviation Nation 2009
Great show! It was windy today (picked up quite a bit from yesterday's practices) and it was noticable during the demos, not just the Thunderbirds. Stroker's smoke came on as he came out of burner on the DLOT, and he had to disarm the system to turn it off. That's why you'll see Boss using smoke in all the Diamond maneuvers instead of #4 from today's performance. Made for some unusual looking smoke trails.
Also met and said hello to Sheik (RNLAF) today after his display, he just happened to walk by...
Enjoyed meeting everyone, and of course all of the Patriots last night. (Quite an "interesting" show program edition this year).
Looking forward to some of the photos Panther took!

Also another advice if I may,
The pictures are on the dark side. This is caused by the camera automatic light metering always trying to make the photo histogram nicely divided from black tints to white. This is good in most (normal) circumstances but not in all situations like during airshows with bright white jets and a light sky, with the end results being darker pictures.
You can test and understand this by taking a picture of a black wall and a white wall... Guess what the results will be... both pictures will be gray!
Solve this by overexposing your pictures in very bright situations and underexposing them in very dark (night) situations.
Eighter way, nice shots!
This is probably closer to what you saw in reality:

LD...
What happened on Sunday during the line break loop (I believe)? They aborted. Then after a few minutes they setup and did the maneuver successfully and continued with the show.
I didn't have my radio with me this year but figured you were listening and knew what was going on.
GREAT shots Panther!!!

I wasn't there Sunday, but heard it was pretty windy and if the winds shifted to the north, the Split S setup may have kept them too close to the aerobatic box to allow for a long enough run-in.
Panther said she heard them abort on the radio, and reposition for the LBL again, but I don't believe she was there either to see it first hand.

Some very nice pictures in the ASB thread about AN 2009 here! (Page 16- and on).
