Problems with installation...
Hi guys...
I really really really... hate to post this... and if there is a solution to my problem... I'm sorry for being a dummy and posting this again.
I've looked everywhere on the VTB site... and else where.
I purchased Lock On Gold CD (US VER.)
Did the install per VTB suggestions on stickies etc.
Installed the CD first... then Flaming Cliffs second.
Dowloaded the Flaming cliff patch 1.12b (for CD US ver)
And Downloaded ModMan 6301.zip.
Installed the Flaming Cliff patch...
Installed Modman... and following VTB instructions... put the VTB Mod 2.5 zip into the proper folder.
Ran Modman... and installed the VTB skins...
All seems right ? ?!
When I go to run LOMAC... it scans the Flaming Cliffs disc for a registration... and says there's and error. I'm then done.
Can't get into the game... period.
Suggestions... ? THANKS !

It sounds to me like you ended up with one of the discs that ED had to recall. When I purchased Lock-On Gold in '05, they had to replace my disc - didn't know there were still bad ones out there, but evidently you got one.
I just checked ED's Lock-On site, and the link for the "limited product recall on Lock-On Gold" is no longer active... I would try their tech support first:
support@lockon.ru
If anyone knows where to find the phone number for recall, please post.

Yea, VISTA could be it.

Then install by clicking the same setup.exe. (Do this for all other programs for LockOn as well such as Loman, Modman, etc...)
Takeone,
Sounds like you followed the steps of the How to Install LockOn sticky. Now, did the game fire up just fine through each of steps 1-3 OR did the problem occur first after step 4?

LD,
The program ONLY worked after installing LOMAC... step 1.
I tried uninstalling the VTB mod, but no luck.
I have uninstalled the entire program and will begin from the start, but trying each time to see if the program will still run and where it becomes "corrupt".
More to come...
THANKS SO MUCH for trying to help!

Okay... did the uninstall.
Re-installed Lomac... runs fine.
Installed Flaming Cliffs... no luck. Install goes well, asks for a reboot.
Reboot...
Go to play... and Star Force goes to check the Flaming Cliffs disc and says it can't.
I've emailed LockOn support, but haven't heard back. Guess I'm SOL huh?

Sounds like a bad disk to me. I hope they get back to you if not soon. Their site has been down for quite a while.takeone wrote:Okay... did the uninstall.

I know this isn't an ideal fix, but if you check half.com you can usually find used copies of LockOn Gold for cheap. I've gotten copies in great condition for as little as 4 bucks plus shipping.
If you're looking for a quick fix, that may be the way to go. There is no telling how long it could take to get replacement disks through corporate channels...

Not trying to be a smartass here, but that sounds like a rhetorical question. On one hand, you could wait for... who knows how long OR you could spend a few bucks now, and have a copy in your hand way sooner. You'd still run the "same" risk of a bad disc as if you wait for a replacement, but the odds are better (statistically at least) for getting a working disc, either way you go about it.takeone wrote:...don't I run the same risk of getting a "bad" disc?
