I plan on being there all day on Saturday wearing our VTB t-shirt. I plan on taking pictures and maybe some video as well. I will post some of the good pics. Can't wait to see the opening show for 2007. It's gonna rock!!!! 8) 8) Hopefully the weather will cooporate for a high show. 74 degrees with a chance of am showers. Go figure. We have had record heat over the last two weeks up to 99 degrees last week and sunny here in phx. When the T-birds come, it rains. Not fair. Here's hoping for a high show!!!!! 8) 8) :? See you all there. If you see me, say hi!!!!! Look for me in the blue VTB t-shirt standing as close to the comm cart as I can get during the show. 8) :) :)

Well, I wasnt there, but I've seen some photos. Looks like they added this emblem to the left side of the plane, under the back edge of the canopy, right above the gun "nozzle", so don't put away your modeling program yet. Its round shaped and just a bit smaller than the ring of stars around the jet number.

As soon as I see some more definitive pictures showing it I will post them here for you guys.

GREAT SHOW!!! The weather was touch and go on Saturday, but the show went on...The B-2 made an apperance(sat only)...All I can say is SAWWWEEET!!! The marking that are added on the left side is the 60th aniv logo for the AF...The displays were neat.. They had a couple F-22s outh there and an Aggressor F-15 from Nellis...The flying was outstanding...Cant get over it.. i took tons of pics with my digital.. Ill hopefully get them on a CD and then I can share... Talked for Hollywood for a minute or two and you could tell he was Pumped and ready to go... I think the entire team was ready to get the show going. Sundays weather was perfect.. No clouds no rain.. Life was good.

It was a great show. I was there on Saturday as well, not Sunday. The clouds cleared just in time for a high show to happen. They looked great for the first "official" show of the season. Crossover Break needs some work though. 5 and 6 were spread pretty wide coming into it that just took the illusion out of it. They were early season spread in most formations but solid. The show itself was very tight!!!!! 30 to 35 mins wheels up to touchdown. Extremely tight turnarounds,  diamond turnarounds with the delta too.

The hit after the HBB was nearly perfect. It looked really good. There was a lot of adjustments that happened for 2 and 3 in the overhead and coming down toward the hit, but they all arrived pretty much at the same time. Good hit. Show center on most manuevers. The solos still need some work with the calypso. 6 was too high in the manuever and a little too low in the reflection. Their hits for the opposing passes were generally show right by about 200 ft or so. Not bad though. Trail manuevers looked pretty good, but still room for improvement. In the TD Clover 3 bobbled right at the start of the pull throwing 4 out slightly. The transition was pretty clean. In the high low hit, the hit was show center. The rejoin leading into the 5 card was very late. 6 joined up, smoke off, transition to 5 card and smoke on then pull... It all happened about that fast too. Very tight turn by the diamond during that manuever. But the 5 card was well executed. Everyone held their positions very well with a show center loop.

Overall I thought the show was well done and really enjoyed being there. I was able to talk to #7 "Red", #5 "Pinto" and we met #11 as well. All the other pilots were on the showline after the show, did not talk to all of them. I, of course, spent more time with #7 twice during the day on Sat. They were very helpful and top notch people. I spent the day with Gunner, VTB #2, and we had a great time. We met a couple of honorary Thunderbirds as well and had a great time. What a great time.

So there you have my take on the show. Sorry for the detailed critique, but you know me... :) Had to put on my #7 hat.

BTW, the B2 flyby (3 passes) Rocked!!!!!!!!!! The F-18 high speed pass with the cone condensation at nearly the speed of sound was incredible. I had never seen one in person before. Very sweet. Great show.

LD, there is much more that I can tell you but will save it for our SOP discussion. :)

And Rhino, I got pictures and video of the sticker. It is the 60th Anniversary sticker, round, and is placed right in front of the flag panel. They will keep it there all year as this year commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the Air Force. Congratulations guys.

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I just wanted to mention although my wife and I now reside in Tennessee since 1998, we were both born, raised and married in Phoenix, and I spent 42 years there. My father retired from LUKE AFB in 1988 and worked there for 36 years as an electrician. I've been to many Thunderbird shows there and remember the old F-100 Thunderbirds, as well as the F-4 and T-38 pilots. I met a few of them there, very great pilots.

My old neighbor in Phoenix used to be a crew chief for the Thunderbirds and knew my uncle who originally served at LUKE but then transferred to Hamilton, AB in California.

A lot of memories indeed.
I know my eyes teared up seeing your "Smoke On" video and I must say it gave me goose bumps. I know it has to be tough trying to fly in formation with lag problems. But you all look professional out there. Great job. :)

Here is the sticker that they have on the airplane this year.

Image

It is under the cockpit right in front of the international flags. Not sure if it is on both sides of the airplane or not. My guess is that it is. It was a great show. Later.
