My Pit
I have been meaning to put something up for the last week or so... this is my newly finished pit.

It is so much more enjoyable flying in the Akers-Barnes than flying from a desktop setup. Especially with FSSB. It really does make a difference.

It is an Optoma projector, not sure which model it is off the top of my head, it was a gift. I am pretty sure it's 1/10th the price of a 1080p projector. It has a DVI and is the DLP2 technology. I currently run it at 1280x720 and it is capable of emulating up to 1080P(not as good as native).
I have only had the pit set up for a few days and I haven't had much time to fly in it yet. I am sure having the FSSB strapped down will make a huge difference in smoothness. I put about 10 sheetrock screws into the pit in order to make it more rock solid.
I think Thumper had mentioned that the akers barnes cockpit makes quite a difference with using the FSSB modded cougar in comparison with a "desktop setup" and I can anticipate myself agreeing with him very much.
FYI, I have plans of exporting the guages to the smaller LCD panels in the picture using a product from http://www.simmeters.com/products.html
I am going to try the demo software first and see ho well it works.

Question for Gunner, Redeye, and Rotorblade- once you got your view.lua and graphics.cfg file set up for widescreen gaming (AR=1.6 and view angle default = 20.0, 145.0) how did you set your zoom to then zoom out further by default. Right now when I enter the game I see the top of the hud down to the bottom of the radio center panel whereas b/f I saw part of the artificial horizon. If I zoom out I can see top to bottom what I saw b/f going widescreen but can now see more on the sides of my view which makes sense to me. However I don't want that zoom out amount to be arbitrary and different everytime I fly so how would I preset to a given amount.

Burner, anything with a wider AR than 1.33 will crop the top and bottom of your screen. Secondly, anytime you zoom back it will create a fish-eye effect for your view. For all of us that have had widescreens for a while, you'll have to accept the fact that LOMAC isn't formatted for widescreen displays and even when you select an AR of 1.6, it formats the screen to where it will fit the width of your screen without stretching the image and then crops the top and bottom off.
Zooming lets you see more, but creates more problems if you ask me because fish-eye and adverse smoke effects, so I never stray from default zoom. FOV settings only allows you to widen the angular width of the viewers lens. What we all want is to have the the same vertical view and increase the horizontal portion when displayed on a widescreen. Unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge LOMAC does not allow this! Get used to seeing less of the preceding aircraft in any trail formation...
Here are some comparison screenshots from the same exact time using my two different monitors, each with its appropriate aspect ratio and resolution selected in LOMAC. I didn't change the FOV angle settings however, but this will give you an idea of what it looks like with widescreen. Get used to seeing less in the vertical (!), although the paint is the same.

Welcome to the club!!! Widescreen is great and works for almost every game, except in LOMAC it crops your head off!

In other words, seeing less and not more, but giving you the illusion of wider view and definitely a closer feel, but if you find a way to actually widen the view and keep the original vertical size (without changing zoom) please be sure to let us know!
