Hi Shawn!
Most of us use the FSSB, Boss uses the NXT. The FSSB is a tremendous mod for precision flying, and the NXT helps Boss to be as smooth as possible.

While the FSSB is a great help its by no means required to do this type of flying- I used a stock Cougar for more than a year while flying on this team. I've seen successful pilots using a MS Precision Pro as well- the pilot accounts for about 80%-90% of aircraft control and the actual controller mechanism itself can give you that extra 10%-20% boost.

@ STRIKER LOL!!! That actually looks like the Sears model joystick that came with the knockoff Sears Atari 2600. The joysticks that came with my 2600 (circa 1976) didnt have the orange dotted line around the stick, but the Sears ones did. Maybe later production Atari models did too but I can't remember...

@ Shawn The NXT isn't a joystick, it's actually a precision machined gimbal/spring mod for the Coug. You can find out more information about the NXT mod at Cougar World in the hardware mod's section. The current version of the mod is the Uber II NXT, I believe.

Stock Cougar works great for me in formation and Synchro manouvers.
Also a pair of CH Pro pedals at my big feet helps.
