In tribute to our own Virtual Thunderbird pilots from Canada, here's a look at the Canadian Snowbirds. Nine airplanes in close formation. Also the only team I've seen that perform a 9-plane line abreast formation as well as a double farvel roll! Now, that's impressive! Oh Canada...

Check out the Canadian Air Force Snowbirds website here.

Thanks for the post LD! Great pictures of our Canadian Snowbirds. I have been fortunate to watch them as many as 20 times and each time they amaze me. In 2003 I was lucky enough to meet the team and a spend a few hours with them which was the chance of a life time.

Last year was an exceptional year at the Abbotsford Airshow as the USAF Thunderbirds and the Snowbirds both performed. Both teams were absolutely breath taking.

In addition to the Double Farvel Roll and 9 Ship Line Abreast Pass they also perform the 5 Ship Line Abreast Rolling Loop. I can only imagine how difficult that must be to pull off!

For anyone who is interested check out LD's link. There are some clips in the Defense website which are alittle rough but pretty cool none the less. Check out the 9 ship Formation Landing and Takeoff!!!

Here is a link to where you can watch the Line Abreast Rolling Loop. Anyone interested in Formation Flying needs to watch this as the difficulty factor is through the roof. Makes me proud!

Scroll down to the bottem of Saturday and look at Snowbirds Line Abreast Rolling Loop. You'll need real player I believe.

The following is a link to a new Snowbirds video that was released and is being hosted on Patrick's Aviation Website. Pretty cool video with some nice up close footage including a side shot of the 9 ship line abreast flat pass and a close up the solos doing a canopy to canopy roll.

Whoa, that 'Le Double Tonneau Croise' is freakin awesome. Definately requires the right camera angle but stunning none the less.

:D I know, when I saw them do that one this year my jaw hit the ground!! They also did the double farvel roll which was stunning. The one thing they didn't do was the 5 ship line abreast roll/loop. I am hoping they put it back in the show this year.

Kudos, ehh! I'm envious of all the breaks they get to fly and make it look so easy... The canopy to canopy roll is another insanely challenging maneuver! 8)
