Gorgeous aerobatics video (MUST SEE)

Post by Funky » Sun Nov 20, 2005 3:52 am

A good friend of mine sent this GORGEOUS video to me. It is hands down one of the most beautifully put together videos I've ever seen. I actually have a shirt that says "aerobatics is like having sex and being in a car wreck at the same time"... well this proves that!

This little video is finally convincing me to make 2 grand and get my aerobatics endorsement pretty soon :D

And BTW, I have the file of this video and its 2 Megs... anybody interested in hosting it?

Hope Y'all enjoy

Ok, I'm quitting my current day job to do this now!

That's some really cool flying (:P drooling...)! I've been thinking about pursuing aerobatics for way too long and you just reminded me I actually have time and $ now to get started... 8)

I normally don't bump posts this old, but I recently stumbled across this video again online and it's definitely worth seeing! Check the original post by Funky and follow the link.

Btw, Funky if you still have the video on hand, let me know!

Excellent video.

Here's some crazy flying too.
I was on my way to the UK leg of the race at Longleatwhen they cancelled it due to the wind, I was gutted.

There's also a very cool game you can play with your stick on too.

Yeah, I'm a fan of hers as well. Her name is Svetlana Kopanina. For full video of her flying her Sukhoi 31, check out:

I have to admit I really like how her hair highlights the G's she's pulling...guys just don't look as cool when they pull G's.

Also, she flies two-handed...as I mentioned on youtube, that Sukhoi must be a handful even with two spades on each wing!

Your wish has come true. Go to flightsim.com and download Don Halcolm's Sukhoi 31. The plane has the equivalent of an M-14PF engine in it which produces over 400hp stock. The model most pilots fly is a "p" model which only produces about 360...though in comparison to the stock Lycoming that is still pretty good. Also, I might mention that though Russian jets are notorious for short service lives, the Sukhoi 29 and 31 are certified at +12/-10 G's and the wing spar is tested at over +/-23G's. The M-14 (a 9 cylinder radial) was originally designed to run power generators and has an expected service life of 20,000hrs WITHOUT MAINTENANCE. It has all kinds of little eccentricities with start up and oil pumps...but it's a killer engine. Go fly it, I think you'll be impressed.

If you wait a few weeks, or contact me for the file, I'll send you my version which spins a slightly larger prop (more realistic actually), and has a custom designed high-volume smoke effect.
