These two reality show/ documentary have been released on DVD. I've read quite a number of positive reviews on them.

I saw the Red Flag one at the USAF Museum this past summer, and it was great. A ton of footage of stuff you don't usually get to see. I didn't realize it was out on DVD, I'll have to pick one up.

Well, when the Virtual ThunderBirds came to visit Las Vegas we went to go see the Fighter Pilot Operation Red Flag in the IMAX theatre.
I already warned them about some of the stuff they were going to see, cause I know Cinch wouldn't be able to hold it in. He would yell BULLSHIT at the first piece of CGI he saw... and he did... and Striker had an earfull from the lady sitting next to him. But it was a fun experience to have with the group of guys.

I drove 2 hours to see Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag and it was well worth it.

IMHO Fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag was a huge dissapointment! Not only all the CGI, but the whole storyline and presentation. It could have been so much better, but then again that's just my 2 cents...

What is GCI?

GCI is Ground Control Intercept.
I think you mean CGI though which is Computer Generated Imagery.

That'd be the one......
Yeah, not impressed with that particular half hour of cheesy make-believe. Silly low level shots with a poor mockup of a cockpit superimposed over footage that looked as if it was a chopper shot that had been sped up. A pretend HUD that looked like something I drew when I was five, and I think in the briefings for the pilots (for what real shots there were) they must have just told 'em to fire off their entire supply of flares onto the camera mans head. I can just imagine them asking, 'What's my motivation?......'
Oh, and the special effects made me feel like I was watching an episode of McGyver.
My 2 cents... well, more like four...
Sorry, I'll stop now.

Yeah, now if they do a flight with the ThunderBirds in IMAX or fly with the Blue Angels with thru sight video (cockpit cameras) from all the pilot's positions... NOW THAT WOULD #@$%ING ROCK!!
Hmmm, do I smell a movie opportunity brewing?
I'm glad you guys backed me up on my post.
I don't see how any individual from both the (CYBER...

) I mean virtual flight sim community or the real world community could even bare what was put on that screen. Think we should have gone Kart Racing instead.
