Mission creation aircraft placement FC2

Post by dudeman750 » Sun Dec 19, 2010 8:41 pm

Anyone figure out how to create a mission to get the aircraft to line up in logical order? It's driving me crazy!

I'm trying to create a mission at Anapa and it insists on putting the aircraft in the heavy parking at long intervals from each plane to the other. Nothing I do seems to change this. Should I try a different airport? Finding support on the ED site is a challenge. I seem to have a grasp on the editor itself, but no luck on this problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks, LD.

Do you know the other airport besides Anapa that a line up can be made?

Can I suggest... Just practice out of order when parking/starting, but taxi into your lineup before a show? That's what we did for VFAT this year. Saves a lot of headaches and lets you use an airfield that everyone else isn't at.

Well, one of our SOPs is our turn out and taxi out so the team kinda wants to keep doing that.

I say many thanks for LD and those of you chiming in.

I got Anapa all set up for the time being. I wonder what that other airport that works is?

Well, I guess you know how to find out. Start making some missions!

Well guys, after us all jumping in a server tonight and putting some ideas together, we were able to get 18 spots in a row on SOCHI ADLER which was the base we wanted to practice at.

How we did it:

We filled about 80 spots with client plane groups and then leapfrogged our way into finding the ones where we wanted. It really wasn't all that hard but took a bit of time. The spots in numerical succesion were like 48-65.

So, I guess if any team wants a specific airport, it can be done following the above method. Thanks for all of your help and we wanted to share this info with the community right away to return the favor. Many thanks to this forum as an avenue for the sharing of information!!!

Merry Christmas guys and happy new year from me and the rest of the VSB!

Were you guys competing for who'd post the findings in the forums first (1:09am vs. 1:13am)?

Thanks for sharing.

I tried the method mentioned above at a few different airports (Tskhakaya & Kutaisi) earlier this year without any luck. Even after finding the sequence of the jets I wanted to spawn in the appropriate spots, the mission would somehow revert them to spawn in different/default spots (read: bunker) after making changes in the loadout, pilot name or anything else in the mission editor. Let us know if you run into any problems or try this at another airfield, in particular one that was a new addition in FC2.

We got done flying, and we didn't discuss who would be the one to update the threads, hehe!

I'll remove mine due to the duplicate posts. :)

Well... I can say I was able to modify the mission without any adverse effects. I did change the pilot name and the loadout. I did not modify or remove any of the client spaces though... I think that would definitely screw up the order from our trial and error.

Merry Xmas!

What about changing the aircraft type and air group name (would that "reset" the order)?

IIRC, when I tried before and had found the correct spots, then changed the aircraft from an Su-27 to an F-16 and renamed the air group "Thunderbird 1" it would revert the spawn point back to a different one. I could remember wrong, haven't tried in a while, but something would definitely undo the sequence...

Hmmm. Is it assigning spots in part alphabetically by flight name? Interesting.

We pretty much can use any airport using the fill and find method.

Once found though you have to leave the "filler" pilots in there or you will mess up the spawn order.

We configured 3 airports this way a while back.

Teej, as far as I can see, it fills them in order of their addition to the .sup file. (I think that's the one... my map-making is rusty already.) So, no reason or rhyme to it except in how the person who created the airbase layout in Max decided to go about adding them.
