This is a nasty one.



I was supposed to be flying the Qantas flight there this morning but didn't because of stuff happening at home. Normally we are the first to arrive once the curfew gets lifted at 6.00am... about 50 minutes before this happened.
There is some very good posts about it on PPRUNE.org . Some very knowledgeable MD-11 drivers having their say.

Strong winds, windshear and apparent mishandling of a bounced landing seem to be the likely causes.

Both pilots, US citizens, were apparently killed.

This video shows the intial touchdown as well. Sad news!

I work for FedEx and the annonced today that both pilots lost their lives. Very sad news and my prayers go out to their families.
