Rise of Flight

Post by Lawndart » Sun Mar 08, 2009 11:22 pm

Just caught a glimpse of this and it made me think of the ol' Red Baron game by Dynamix/Sierra.

And it's nice to actually see them be sims.

The guy who built the Su-25T flight model for Lock On is the one who started developing this.

I am looking forward to it :D

I would love to see them put this game out for the Xbox 360. Man to fly with superb graphics on my 46" HD screen would be out of this world. :)

Thanks Lawndart for the videos.

Why don't you simply connect your PC to your 46" screen? ("Out of this world" isn't as far fetched as you may think).

Ya know what Kris I just simply forgot is all LOL. The only problem with that is I have had other members do the same thing and they say that their pixels were too large and looked fuzzy, on the other hand theirs were not high def and a HD screen may just cured that problem eh? ;)

Thanks,

Mike

As long as you run the computer at the screen's native resolution it should look just as good as watching movies.

Thanks again Kris, I just can't wait for this to come out. Can you imagine doing a bomb burst maneuver with 5 Fokker Triplanes putt, putt LOL. ;)

Oh wow, I'm definitely buying this when it comes out, the graphics, sounds, and effects are incredible. 10 years from now I wonder what the graphics will be like in newer simulators :)

I bought the sim myself and here are some pics I posted in the aerodrome forums:

Better make sure you have a fast machine to run it properly though. I had to upgrade from a Nvidia 8500GT 512 MB to a Nvidia GeForce 9400 1 GB just to get it fairly smooth, and I'm running 4 gigs of memory as well.

The game first came out with only the Spad 13 and Fokker D-7, now they added the Nieuport 28 you see in the pictures and an Albatros D-V, they were going to charge around $7.50 fr each plane, but felt bad that there were much needed updates and the time spent waiting for them that they gave us the extra 2 fighters for free.

I purchased this game through GoGamer.com and it came in 2 days for $39.00.

It is definitley the most realistic WW1 flight sim I've ever played.

I see WWI formation aerobatics and solo barnstorming looming on the horizon...

Would be cool to check the aerobatic capabilities of these underpowered engines with paper wings.

I flew Knights of the Sky (now called ROF) back in 2007 in Moscow and damn, this is a cool sim! Will visit Andrew Petrovich his office again this summer (and who knows there is an English copy around somewhere AHUM!). :D

For sure it is cool to see how they work on a simulator, here is a little movie to give you an impression:

With 4 positions throttles that looks difficult.

The only thing is you can't do a complete bomb burst with these planes cause it turns out to be a 4-man hammerhead stall running into the following solo with a surprise look on his goggles. ;)
