Old Video!

Post by Imdbombboarder » Thu Aug 30, 2007 4:15 pm

Hey guys,

It's been awhile! I saw a short clip on tv today, that had a song which I later realized after brainstorming for an hour where I had heard this song, knowing it was from my past. The video this song was on is no longer in your library, I would know the song if I heard it, but I know it was a video made in 05 or 04, possibly one of your first. Is there any way I can find these videos to listen, or can you guys start naming off songs that you might remember the names of? Thanks guys

I know this is somewhat vague but I've done a lot of searching through the threads, going on youtube and listening to all these song names that appear, and I didn't turn up anything.

Sorry, we're not going to start naming songs. You can research and find all the songs listed in either the video credits and/or the music threads around various forums incl. this one here. If you're looking for the '04 video, you'd have to try searching for Virtual Thunderbirds @ http://video.google.com , if not the rest of our '05 and '06 videos can be found @ our movie page.

It's a piece of our legacy and at the time, when the netcode wasn't what it is today, and we were the pioneers of virtual formation aerobatics along with few others in the community, it certainly has some historical value - yet at the same time, watching this today, I have to take it with a grain of salt, since there isn't a single maneuver flown correctly in this vid. A+ for coolness factor for its time and being one of the first aero vids out there, but the attention to detail gets F- in my book. This "phenomenon" has grown so much over the last three years, and each new group has pushed themselves and other groups to aim for higher levels. 8)

Burner, (at least) I got your point! :P (It has nothing to do with what I wrote above...).

Good lord has it been that long? Still to this day I think it was cool that I blazed through the diamond instead of doing it right and making it an "optical" illusion for the solo overtake dirty diamond....those were the days!

P.S. It amazes me how well that video has held up with time still...just tells me that Smoke On will far outlive any of our original projections.

I don't know about you, but I blast right over No. 4's head on the Hi-Lo Hit even these days. Burner can confirm... 8)

LockOn didn't have smoke pods until FC came out, so the only thing available from its release fall '03 until summer '05, were the (nav colored) red and green smoke off the wingtips. The bug list of things fixed since version(s) 1.0-1.02 are quite long - I can't imagine how much we take for granted now, most notably the netcode improvements... and of course the smoke! :P

Ah I didn't know that.
Yeah the Net code must have changed you guys dramtically, for the better of course.

Still even 'back in the day' the formations are tight (with a few wiggles here and there) hats off to you all.
