The website is fully up and running now but I am still going to be working on the Resources section because I am going to upload some images, files, etc. on there and I want it to be all nice and fancy

You know how often a total stranger offers to fix an amateur website on the internet fourms. Well this is the first time I've seen it anyway. If you didn't like what he did you could have just not uploaded it.Viper101 wrote:whats wrong with office? and how about no. I'm not gonna let somebody make the site for us! Yes i know burner but to me, thats like somebody telling you. Oh your website sucks, let me make it better! How do you think LD and Cinch would feel after they worked hard to put the VTB's together and then have some random guy tell you its a bad website and they shouldnt of done what they did? They would be mad also! I worked hard for mine too! so no, I wont accept any offer because its the work of our squadron...not somebody who I dont even know. But I will be improving it much more over time! Personally, if you came at me with an offer, ask politely and I will think about it.....not with something like OHH NOT MS OFFICE, THAT PROGRAM SUCKS. LEMME REBUILD IT FOR YOU!Burner wrote:You know how often a total stranger offers to fix an amateur website on the internet fourms. Well this is the first time I've seen it anyway. Tailhook... Tailhook... ROFL! Almost every website uses html code, whether you are using a design tool to make the layout of the site or raw code. Having someone that can code it and optimize it hands on is always better than relying on visual design tools. My point is that what you have right now, is in fact html!Viper101 wrote:...i would like to see you try and top that with html!
Well, I think most people form their opinions based on your demeanor and responses within this forum and other forums. With that in mind, having someone offer a helping hand, just to get shot down sums up the perception of "who you are" quite well...Viper101 wrote:...Who do you think i am??
P.S. Of course we've had feedback on our site too and people who do not like it. That's part of the continuous design process. You have to be willing to accept input from others, good or bad! Try not to be defensive about it, but learn from it!
Ok, to clear this up, I've been designing web sites and Flash sites for the past 15 years and database enabled web sites using sql & asp for the past 10.
I've also made a few Flash games in my time too (and have posted links in these very such forums).
And did I say that your web site sucks, no I didn't, I think it's a cool site with good design.
What I was saying, but not is no many words, was that MS Office puts in soooo much surplus code, it takes a long time to load the site up, and on my screen I have to scroll left and right to see the entire site, which in my proffesional opinion looks amatureish.
I use dreamweaver to code my sites, and only use the 'visual' aspect of it to make sure everything is lined up perfectly.
I have even designed a complete drag and drop system in Flash for a spanish property web site that writes info to the database for display on the main pages.
This is my latest 'quick and dirty' site for a bf2 mod that I got up and running in about 10 minutes so the guys could get things going.

This is a completely Flash based site that my old web design consultancy company (that I owend and made quite a few £ from it) used.

I'm also helping a dev team build a completey Flash based strategy game at the moment, but it's top secret. I could tell you, but then I'd have to shoot you out of the LOMAC sky.
So I think we can safely say, I know what I'm talking about.
Why did I bother to offer to help?
Well let's just say I'm a nice guy who has some spare time and like helping people out in whatever way I can, strangers or not.
Now if you can swallow some pride and open yourself up to some constructive critism on your web site, I'll help out. If not, so be it.
And lastely, re-reading my response to your post, I can see how this could be interpreted and apologise if it came across the wrong way.
Thnx Burner & LD for your comments.

thank you.Ells wrote:And did I say that your web site sucks, no I didn't, I think it's a cool site with good design.
Now thats the kind of attitude I would expect from somebody who would want to offer a deal towards something like a website for a team.Ells wrote:What I was saying, but not is no many words, was that MS Office puts in soooo much surplus code, it takes a long time to load the site up, and on my screen I have to scroll left and right to see the entire site, which in my proffesional opinion looks amatureish.
no problem, its cool. I just didnt like the way you tried to offer to rebuild our site right after you criticized how MS Office is when it works just as great for me. If you would still be interested in helping out, please just contact me! I can be found on our ventrilo, on msn, or aim...or just e-mail me and we can work something out and hopefully I could make the decision to give you a go and experiment for a new website design!Ells wrote:And lastely, re-reading my response to your post, I can see how this could be interpreted and apologise if it came across the wrong way.
