Ctrl-Alt-Del, Choose process, right-click, Set Affinity (All, CPU1, CPU2, etc.).

What he said.

Also, since FC2 sticks to one core...I can get away with about a 20% OC as it is...so I'm getting ~ 2.9 ghz now.

I did actually go one step further...I'm also getting a new case. The one I've been using has no heat removal except through the PSU. Heh.

Much more flyable now (wasn't impossible before, but the slowdowns got noticeable). Hope some cooler air lets me push a bit harder.

Wow.

That was some damn nice bang for the buck.

I replaced the stock Intel CPU cooler (I spent $70 on a Zalman...some have had mixed opinions, and you could probably do as well for a bit less)

I replaced the case I had (which had essentially no ventilation). The old case, the only airflow was whatever the power supply managed to pull through the case. I now have 4 120mm fans ventilating the case.

Before the upgrade:
With my house at approx 22 degrees C, and my C2D e6600 processor running at stock speeds (2.4ghz) my processor was idling around 45-50C...nudging up to ~ 55-58 in FC2. My graphics card idled around 53 and would go up to around 70 in FC2. Orthos would bring the CPU up past 60 after a few minutes.

Now, overclocked to 2.97ghz, my CPU is idling at about 28-30 C, and doesn't go past about 43 C in FC2. GPU idles in the 40s and tops out at about 61.

I'm up to about 50fps on spoolup in the bunker...and flying over towns. Very rarely does it pop below that. So where I was once seeing 17fps at times, I now see 45-50...AND my fans don't speed up much so it stays reasonably quiet. Yahoo.

Sounds like no more excuses to me.

Mind posting your specs (and upgrades) here for reference.

Just one excuse. The loose nut behind the wheel.

Looks like there's a fix for the ME Bearing Bug! :D

Mission Editor Bearing Bug Fix

Just replace the default file with the one included in the attachment at the bottom of the post and you're set. 8)

DArt is working on a Mission Editor Mod that among a few other changes will add a button right in the ME that switches the units between metric and imperial. Finally! 8)

Update on Phantom Control. The new FC 1.2.1 patch added auto flaps and PhC doesn't like it. At the moment we have 100% replay failure... :(

Under investigation...

What about with aircraft that don't support/use auto flaps?

We haven't tested the F-15 yet but we will as soon as we got our FC2 server back (it exploded LOL).

Who needs flaps? Just release the alpha build "as is"!

I think everyone in the aero community is anxiously awaiting Phantom Control's re-release. In its absence we've all realized that we've become dependant on it, and with another year of absolutely zilch time for practice it would be a life saver for us. (We're six months into 2010 and I think we've had two, maybe three full lineup sorties all year long... and 2/3 of them took place during the first half of January to boot)... so, hurry up wouldya!
