Piper could you please respect the people in the forums here that are posting, if you want to post things like you have then please go to a FPS forum and do so. But please have respect and help out not act like a FPS player. All of us at the Virtual Thunders do not want to remove anyone from our members list but if it needs to happen we will do it. Again I say please try to be respectful.

Ok, once again these personal attacks, hijacking of threads and making remarks about other members will not be tolerated. I've tried to take a discrete approach and not make a big fuss about it, with the users who have crossed the line being contacted by email or PM's, but as clearly can be seen it continues regardless. While we encourage freedom of speech and dislike interrupting the threads, this has got to stop! I'm closing this thread down! Sorry to the original poster, since this was an interesting topic to discuss, but since a few members just can't act responsibly, this thread is so far away from where it started now and I don't see any more good coming out of it.

Everyone involved in any remark is now on the radar and to everyone using this forum I'd like to say. Please, respect the other members and read and follow our rules and policies. At this point I'd recommend everyone to review those policies, since obviously they are not understood by a handful of people, some more than others. PERIOD!

Kudos to the flight crew of 292 who brought back the plane intact and aside from a flattened nose gear, some broken centerline lights and tracks in the runway, it couldn't have ended in a better way. BTW, the reason for the long landing (aside from greasing it on) was that they stayed off the brakes and let the plane coast to a stop most of the runway. Using the brakes would have put some momentum and force on the nose strut. Also the fantastic CRM. Pilot called MX in NY, diverted to LGB (MX base), flew-by the tower (excellent thinking Captain - - until then, it was just thought to be an indication problem) THEN was told that it was a bigger problem than anyone thought.

"As the pilot spoke with mechanics, the flight attendants moved passengers and carry-on luggage toward the rear of the airplane. The goal was to keep as much weight as possible on the rear wheels when the plane landed."

"The captain touched down on Runway 25L at LAX at 120 knots about 2,500 feet down the 11,000-foot runway. He began braking at 90 knots and shut down the engines at 60 knots. The plane stopped just 1,000 feet short of the end of the runway."

Hats off to the blue shirts!
