If you thought that was unbelieveable-

This apparently happened at Top Gun a couple of years back. Two agressor F-18s got together.

Here is one of them on final-
This actually wasn't at Top Gun. These guys are located here at my air station in Va. Beach (NAS Oceana). They are a part of VFC-12. They are a composite squadron that flies aggresor missions for the squadrons here on base. These guys were in a merge trying to "drag" a couple of opponents and once the fight was on, the two opposing guys broke two different directions in hopes that these guys would pursue, and therefore giving them the chance to paint each others bogey once coming out of the procedure. Well, these two guys wound up trying to make a "circle fight", but came through their turns too soon, and wound up smacking each other in mid-air. They were roughly 40nm out when it happened, and were able to limp back home. This has also been seen on RealTV as well. They both made arrested approaches on RWY 23R and 23L here coming in from over the beach. Nice show overall. They were able to salvage both planes. Long live the beast!

Rhino wrote:The guy in the blue jet is lucky he didnt have a fire. If you look at the picture of him on final, you can see the gasoline coming out the wing. Like this thread said, unbelieveable! Geez, funny how American made products can be extremely beat up yet still fly/drive/work.

Happy Flying!

Just an addition to this thread with some video from the History Channel interviewing the Israeli pilot who lost a wing in his F-15 and continued to land the aircraft after a mid-air collision. Amazing story!

Note: At the end of the clip they mention that they still didn't know how the Eagle would fare against the Mig-25. Gotta remember this was before they knew much about the adversary the Eagle was originally built to match... the Mig-25!
