What do I need?

What all do I need to fly the way you all do? (What version of Lock-on, pacthes, multiplayer?) Such as If I was going to try out. (Witch I am not) What do I need?

I think the info you're looking for is here
I checked the FAQ if it is the Bits and Pieces post. I could not find any info in that post about game versions, patches or multiplayer so I googled for it. :)
