Formation practice

Post by RamRod » Mon Jun 13, 2005 10:46 pm

First off, hello to all. This is an amazing site and a great tribute to the Thunderbirds. I would like to know if there is any place to practice some formation flying? I have flown flight sims since the early 90's but have little experience in formation cause frankly I can't find anyone to fly with. I want to put forth my best effort and try out for the thunderbirds but I really would like to practice some. Any suggestions? Thanks

Well Ramrod, I can offer this. I have been coordinating weekly flights with three or four other guys who hope to tryout with the thunderbirds. If you will post some contact info here, I'll get you in the loop. You'll need to have lockon 1.1, and the vtb mod which you can download in the library.

Hey thanks for the quick response. My email is snarlyq@yahoo.com I'll have FC 1.1 by the latest, this weekend. I have the vtb mod already. In the meantime please continue to keep me in the loop so I can finally learn this formation stuff  I also ordered myself a little b-day present, a Cougar HOTAS! I'm excited and scared at the same time.

Ramrod, expect an email from me today. We are flying tonight. While you won't be ready with 1.1 yet, you can at least know you are in the loop.

I bought a cougar for this too, great stick...you'll love it. I'd suggest doing your research regarding how to program it. If you like I can email you the joystick and macro file I created for flying with the vtb.

Indeed, please keep me posted! I'll be ready by the end of the week.

By all means send me the joystick macro, I'm sure I could use it.

Sorry for the tardiness of my post. Tonight is the next one, and they are unofficial...though Bon Jobie has been known to join us from time to time. Contact me tonight on MSN around 2100 pst. See you there.

Hey just to let you know that I am on the road flying this week and won't be hosting any "official" flying until Saturday night. Nevertheless I am glad to see that people are hosting unofficial practices. As I have said, the best way have a crack at the team is to practice with other folks in real time. Be sure that whoever flies lead knows the SOP so that bad habits aren't continued. Have fun and see you on Saturday. Any questions email me at Bonjobie@virtualthunderbirds.com
