Hi! I was told to talk to Striker about something

Post by Flip » Tue Aug 29, 2006 5:12 pm

Hey Striker,

My name is Philipp, Callsign Flip and i was the A-10 Solo Demonstration Pilot of the VFAT 2005. This year i want to take part with a german airforce Mig 29. In the beginning, i wanted to do a "Friendship Flight" with a fellow american in an F-15C, honoring the friendship between the armed forces of the United States and the German Armed Forces. The idea has its base on the heritage flights you get over there in the states! Since my fellow Thumper cannot fly , and there are also no '15 slots left due to the mods, i would like to ask one of you Virtual Thunderbirds if you would be willing to make one or several passes over the airfield during the actual Airshow? I would really love to have such a flyby because i believe in the strong friendship between our two nations (even though our politics differ sometimes) and i want to honor this. If you are interested in doing this, i would be flattered! I turn to you first! Personally, i do have formation flying experience and am a gliderpilot in real life. If you plan to fly with me, we could make out some practice sessions. We wont do anything too fancy, just the heritage type of thing, close form and then break! Hope to get a response from you (Striker) or anyone else of the virtual thunderbirds!
Thanks beforehand!

Your fan,

Philipp "Flip"

What is the scheduled time and day for your planned flight at VFAT? Are you looking to do a single turning pass or something more complex. Are you planning to hold practices b/f hand, if so how many and when would they take place.

These are all things we'll need to know b/f anyone of us could consider committing.

Practice, practice, practice for a flyby? Just like you said I am not sure what exactly your intentions are here manuevor wise. Can you please clarify the routine because if its just a couple flyby's like the heritage guys do then that doesnt require much flying to perfect bud. Regarding the F15, its possible to do it but on the eastern server. We just need to pic a day (friday/sat) where the eastern guys arent modding the f15 for their airshow....so its still a possiblity and I'd rather fly the f15/mig 29 with you like you mentioned. You need to get with Chrissi to coordinate.

Regards,

yes my intentions are heritage flight related maneuvers, but i do intend to practice since i want it to be perfect. Close formation flyby with a break etc. Details about maneuvers later. It would be a single MiG29 flown by me and a Single F-16C VTB OR as Striker might want to do an F-15C. It wouldnt be a long display and i think it could be possible to arrange that i get airborne AFTER your display and while 5 aircraft are landing, i could join up with one of number 1 to 6 and get ready for the announced flyby. It would be several flybys, maybe we can put in a maneuver like "flirting", a Loop, opposing knife edge of some sort to make it more interesting than just a heritage flight, but first lets start with heritage flight type of maneuvers, just get that down first..

Flip,

I recommend not flying with the Thunderbirds aircraft since each aircraft is a part of whole team concept. I dont mind flying with you in an F15 but I dont think just having one thunderbird up there will not be advisable. Let me know if you are still up to that f15 in the eastern server....plus just to let you know most heritage flights arent designed to last long...nor would I personally intend to make this one a "long" demo bud. PM me if you on anything further in this subject please. Thanks,

And what do you think about a Mig, F15, Su27 and an A-10?
If you dont have enough pilots I will fly any AC. And I'm prettey sure I can arrange a Russian pilot for you too.

I was actually talking to Flip. I'm not very supprised that you guys got your hands full with VTB.
I just want to say that I think it would be cool to do the "Friendship Flight" with all flyable aircraft, also celebrating the simulator lockon it self.
