The F-15, to me, has always seemed easier to fly in formation than any mod I've had overlaying it. Not sure if it's because its sheer size (they don't call it the "flying tennis court" for nothing), but I'd be very curious to see a direct comparison and the results between FC1 vs. FC2 when using the same airframe/model and size/setups (incl. weight, fuel, curves etc., preferably also with the mod most often flown by the test pilot). Let us know whenever someone gets around to testing the netcode and flight characteristics against the previous version of Flaming Cliffs in greater detail.
I made a few tests today. As I'm the leader of my team and the only one to have FC2 at this time, my comparison will be limited. Anyway, as a leader I felt huge differences in the Su-27 behaviour during my little demo training. The plane loses much less energy in loops and barrells. I think the drag was reduced on that plane because I lost less energy, but I also had more difficulty getting slower even with the airbrake out. I also think that the Su-27 lost a bit of its acceleration, but I need more hours of flight to get really sure about that point. I also noticed that I had less difficulty to get 8° AoA for my loops.
I hope to quickly find out more with someone else in order to learn more about FC2 formation flight.

Nah, sounds like it may have become more
realistic, as in the
real world where formation flying is
easier (but also more dangerous).
Frazer wrote:From what I read here, the increased stability at higher speeds is the most valuable upgrade for us I think. Now we can all fly at realistic speeds, without having the crazy sensitive pitch control as in FC 1.
This does sound good, and if they tweaked the flight models too, that's even better. I only wish the increased dampening and stability would allow for less twitchy inputs upwards of 500 knots (or simply taper off without any "magic" number where it suddenly becomes too sensitive)! Those Thunderbirds fly such a fast show...

Hehe, I guess you will have to do the rest with the right (flat) curves if you want to fly those speeds. Anyway, I'm downloading FC2 now and I will try it tonight!

(Don't ask how come, hehe).
Will jump into the VTB Vent to give it a shot in formation.

Q: Will FC2 install alongside FC1?
A:
Retained Installs

Some current FC2 threads from the ED forums that might be of interest for setting things up to run better:

For anyone experiencing a nose down ("trim") issue try changing the
Producer.cfg to read:
ForceFeedbackEnabled = false;

Frazer wrote:About the Haze problem, I think there will be hidden options (not visible in game options) like in Blackshark (don't ask why). Try to find something like options.lua in FC2. The
Blackshark tweak guide may also be useful as I think much is the same in FC2.
Keep on posting your experiences.

Thanks Frazer, I was rooting around a lot last night trying to find settings files. Not familiar with the new TFCE layout.

What does TFCE stand for?
(The Fighter Collection... Eagle Dynamics...).

The Fighter Collection Engine. Don't ask me why they kept the "T." It's the engine DCS:BS is currently on, and now FC2 uses it as well.

Because "The Fighter Collection" is the name of the company. Not just "Fighter Collection".

I must be the lonely duck...

I'm waiting for the hard copy.
Edit: Screw it, I'm going to just buy the download. I'm not going to wait 3 months for it to get here in the mail like a copy of FC1 did.

If anyone's mentioned it, I missed it...so...
Has Phantom been tested / ported to this engine?

Not AFAIK.
LOTU doesn't work with it for me, if anyone's interested.
