MacDill Airfest 2008

Post by Blaze » Sat May 03, 2008 7:27 pm

Just got back home from MacDill AFB. Let me tell you something, those Canadians put on one hell of a show! Got a buttload of pictures that'll be uploaded eventually so keep an eye out! Got to see all 3 CF-104's from the "Starfighters" demonstration team fly today! It was amazing! :D All 3 were sitting on the ramp right in front of me for the show, and geeze all 3 starting up and idling at the same time was one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard! When they taxied out for takeoff, one of the pilots ran the engine up to near afterburner (I think he actually pushed it into ab by accident, but only just) and it was the biggest roar I heard in my life, it was like an explosion 50ft away from us! "Whine, BOOM!" The wave of heat and the smell of jetfuel was something you had to have been there to experience! Also got to see an F-4 Phantom fly for the first time today, which was unbelievably loud, seemed much louder than the F-15E Strike Eagle!

So I'm off to start editing the photos, keep an eye out. I'll post the link to my deviantArt so you can see them there.

They were supposed to come to NAS Oceana last year but never showed up......... I still remember the awsome distinct sound the guy had it do on idle in a flyby during 2006. It sounded exactly what a jet should sound like. :)

Now you know what an F-14 somewhat sounds like.

I actually had the chance to see an F-14 fly at Patrick AFB back in 2003. Great memories! :)

Well, it kinda worked, but I think it went from a mini pic to very large. I will wait to get a reply as to what I did wrong.

Try using ImageShack and upload it there. Then when it gives you all the links, use the one at the bottom called the direct link, and paste it in the forum using the [img]url%20to%20picture%20here[/img] code.

I'll try that. I got to thinking when I posted in the thread about the wall murals, the photos came up without me having to do anything at all. How is that? I just copied the http link, pasted it and presto. There was the photos.

@Metro, I went in later on and added the BBCode (as b17tony illustrated in his post above) to the links in your post about murals. You can add any direct link to photos by using:
[img]http://yourURLhere[/img] -code.

Remember that thumbnail sized images are separate images (different URL), so if you want the full sized picture to show you need its link. Our max allowable size for the forum is 1024x768, which means pics taken with digital cameras need to be resized before being uploaded to the net.

Hope this explains!
