New Group in Development

Post by BuLLeT » Thu Jan 03, 2008 5:34 am

Howzit all.

First off, we're a group from South Africa getting into the aerobatic side of LOMAC. We're having some teething problems though, and seeing as the VTB and VBA are our main insperation I thought I'd come over here for help.

Our first problem is that we haven't got an aircraft to fly at the moment... Being South African and all, we'd really love to fly the Gripen, as this is what our air force currently uses. I've not been able to find a model for it yet, and seeing that what I know about modeling/texturing is dangerous I thought I'd come beg for advice :D
Preferably, I'd want the Gripen model on the F-15 base, as with your F16's, for two resons:
1. The F-15 is trim friendly, and easy to fly.
2. The VVI is a must!

If we can't get our hands on the Gripen, I was considering the F/A-18C... But being a stubborn Afrikaans dude, that would be second best for my situation.

Peter_Pan03 is a top notch modeller. His work is relatively low-poly count as well so is ready to be imported into LOMAC.

I got an email from Bullet. Said it wouldnt let him post in here for some reason. So will for him.

Rhino, your idea of using the Hawk also sounds good, you wouldn't know about a decently modeled one by any chance? After reading your post I've tried two versions out, both of the British Red Arrows. The one replaced my F-15 completely, and was pretty buggy. The other Just plain did not work.

Now for the Gripen. What can I say guys, thats an amazing find right there! After studying the page for a second or two I have yet another question. Like I said, when it comes to modeling/texturing I'm completely lost, so I'll need this explained in some detail. As I understand it:

1. I buy the (virtual) model from him.
2. I contact him via email and ask him to animate the parts needing animation. (Flaps/Gear/Rudder/etc)
3. How would I now import this finished model into Lock On? Would he be able to do it, or would I require more external help?

Thanks for all your time guys, we really appreciate it!

Testing...

If this gets through, thank you very much for posting for me Viper! I dunno what's up with the browser interfacing with the website. It makes me "log in" every time I try to do anything, although I'm not getting the Invalid_session error at the moment.

What Hawk version did you use?
If you pop over to the VGH site, you can download our mod for the Mig-29 (as we're still tweaking the current SU27 version):

Also if you speak to Racer on there, he may be up for the challenge making the Gripen, just ask him nicely.

Hey there Ells :)

I'm honestly not sure which one we tried out, only that it replaced the F-15. Also bear in mind that in all my wisdom I installed it manually, not using modman  This would account for it not working properly. Although, that said, another guy in our squad used modman with the same problem as myself.

We're using the Chinese J-10 for the moment, as its the closest model we can find at the moment. As I'm not sure about the forum rules regarding pictures, here's a link to the VGH gallery where I posted a couple of pics: (The ones at the bottom)

I've spoken to Racer, but at the moment he has his hands full with a couple of other projects. He is however, being very helpful in getting us off the ground and might be re-skinning the aircraft for us :D

Ah ok, well the F15 mod is quite an old one and I haven't tried it in a while.

Good luck with the team and Racer is da man!!
