Smoke On Mirrors?

Post by Medic » Mon Nov 27, 2006 1:38 pm

Both mirrors are failing on me halfway through. I'm only getting 60kb/sec tops. Could we get this mirrored to some other facilities such as fileplanet.com or someone who has massive bandwidth capabilities as well. I bet you could even get on the front page. when Falcon 4.0 SP2 came out I came to the head of the team and pitched the idea. what do you know The patch made it to the front page of fileplanet and got several thousand downloads because it was released there a couple days before it was released to everyone else (trying to help lessen the load on the smaller hosts).

Kinda **ssed off since i spent 6 hours downloading yesterday just to have both files completely quit on me. Download resumers didnt even work for it :(

Sorry to hear that you are PO'd! I'm working my tail off to make sure we get hosts that can support the several terabytes of download data it requires...

Coming this week: One more high bandwidth mirror to support download of the WMV HD version (total of three sites will then have it). Three separate sites will also have streaming video up to 720 x 480 of the movie sometime this week. While not HD, it's another option that still looks quite good. Look for more details in the main movie release announcements as they become available!

I'm sorry you're PO'd about not getting it, but we'd rather see our users get treated by the HD version or watch a stream worth while seeing instead of "Youtubing it" and I personally haven't slept for days having to re-render various versions and upload to as many sites as possible. You can only imagine how long it takes to upload every single time, if it takes you that long to download once I'm sure. Rendering is no walk in the park either and extremely time consuming...

Again, just be patient!!! We're doing it right and getting you guys the best quality. With a project this big in size, the "instant gratification generation" will just have to learn that patience is a virtue!

A streaming wmv version is available at www.gamerztheatre.com in 720 x 480 res. You should be able to save that without too much trouble...

We're not going to provide a low res version for download. Quite contrary, if anything in 2007, a DVD version (rendered for DVD) and possibly an even higher HD version could become available? The various options on the table right now are posted in the annoucement threads and whenever anything new is added the original posts are updated with the new info (mirrors, streams etc).

I want to know what school you go to and to quote Luke Duke from Dukes of Hazzard, "Do you have an application".

University of North Dakota. Got similar speeds at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Its great for downloading huge stuff like this movie, and game demo's etc etc. nothing like clicking a link to a 500MB file and its done in 10 mins. Gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling inside :)
