Boston Portsmouth - USAF Thunderbirds 2011

Post by Lawndart » Mon Aug 29, 2011 2:28 am

A High, a Low, and a Flat :!: :D

Incredibly tight timing and the HBB rejoin is one of the fastest I've seen all year long. 2011 team is definitely clicking on all cylinders. #4 gets a little squirrely in the LBL and it appears there was some texture to contend with throughout most of the show, but their flying is still top notch. Also, someone (DCC) forgot to chock #6 properly at the end, LOL.

For sure, a huge improvement on last year. 4 looked scary as heck in that maneuver though.

Not as scary as the scariest moment of this year...... (with the Blues)! ;)

#4 did have more movement than usual throughout the High Show demo at Portsmouth, something that wasn't evident a few days later in the High Show at Atlantic City.

Yeah, a near mid-air at low airspeed at the top of a loop 1000' (laterally) from the crowd line isn't scary at all.

I never said otherwise, but he didn't exactly come close to wiping out the entire diamond.

This is going in a really immature direction, and I'm a little disappointed it's headed there. LD, your first response was unnecessarily pointed. Grab, yours is just making things worse.

Let's try to keep things observational if they can't be mature.

Agreed, let's not trash talk the Blues.

We are all on the same team (big picture) and if we are all so professional then let's assume from our small community that every comment isn't interpreted in the most negative fashion.

With that any collision in these guys line of work is absolutely terrible but I think LD has a point if we were rating them that when your wingmen depart your formation at the bottom of a loop like the Blues had happen it definitely raised more eyebrows...regardless which team it might be on.

I truly hope for a safe year from here on out. Too many accidents and deaths...especially when you know them and are in the ICU saying your final goodbyes to them.

The airshow community is a brother and sisterhood of so many great people as I've really found out this year. Let's keep the drama for the noobs!

Saw #3 come over on #4 on the LBL at Chicago Air & Water a few weeks ago. #4 had to fall out. That was the Sunday Show. I think I was the only one around that was scared at that moment. Most don't even realize the trust they have to have on that manuever.

#2 drifted. ;)

Looked like Motor drifted laterally quite a bit in that video you posted in the other tread. Thanks for sharing that, BTW.
