Deerskin flight gloves... Where can you get them?

Post by takeone » Sat Dec 09, 2006 10:06 am

Where do the real Thunderbirds get their flight gloves ? The deerskin ones with a flag painted on them.

I've only seen some wide shots....and never any close up shots of the gloves.

Seems they went away from the nomex versions.

Anyone know ?

Gloves, Thunderbird style: http://berlingloveco.com/mendresincla.html

The hand-painted designs are unique and original artwork by Robert Belinski. Each year, the Thunderbird crew chiefs supply designs to Jim Coomes (who handles this for the team) and then R. Belinski paints them for each pilot. There's a lot of personal items and stuff that goes on the gloves, but the one common thing is that they all have the American flag on the right hand (the salute hand). You cannot buy these gloves with artwork as (only) real Thunderbirds have them; however, you can order the gloves without artwork from the link above.

Note: Jim Coomes is an honorary Thunderbird!
