McGuire AFB show... and High Def video...

Post by takeone » Thu May 17, 2007 6:41 pm

Hi everyone.

Just a quick note. I was at the McGuire AFB show last Saturday, May 12.
Couple of interesting notes. #4 was replaced with #8 for the show.
THEN....2 minutes into the show....everything shut down.

#6 was reporting a problem with her altimeter. Took about 5 minutes...but ultimately it was fixed somehow...and the show continued. While this happened, the diamond flew circles around the AFB...and 5 & 6 were nowhere to be seen.

So...is anyone interested is seeing some HD video of the show ? I shot it with the comm channel plugged into my ch. 1 and ch.2 was the shotgun mic picking up the narrator and sounds. Pretty cool to here Hollywood call the ditty.

If there are enough people interested...I'll edit a little video together and post it....wmv HD.

I had to fly to London the next day...so I havent' even looked at the footage...but I know I got some nice shots.

Let me know...THANKS !

Okay guys....done.

I did as Lawndart suggested...and posted on airshowbuzz.com.

Seems folks are always glad to see show footage.

Give me a few days...and I'll post the link....and everyone can download or stream the footage. I don't fly back from London until Sunday.

Thanks for the encouragement !

Dunno how big it is, but is there any chance it could be put somewhere for larger files available for download? I don't know if you WANT it downloadable, but I want to ask.

Thanks for sharing takeone! Did Airshowbuzz squeeze the aspect ratio a bit for you when you uploaded your files? Looks like it was originally shot in WS (16:9) and when converted for ASB's site, it got compressed from letterbox to normal, thereby making the jets a little "fat"...

Yup....

I shot it HD....

Unfortunately....at 15 minutes....in HD the size was large. Sooo...had to compress to WMV...
My compression letterboxed the video....when they got it...seems they "squished" it a bit....for sure.

Too bad... kind of loses its (HD) appeal when it's not in HD or formatted incorrectly. Looked like some good work otherwise!

Anyone else notice the solo's aileron rolls? There was definitely some rudder/elevator input. I never realized they did that but always thought it was just aileron snap rolls. A bit more risk factor I would think.
