Raptor and Thunderbirds

Post by Rhino » Sat Apr 28, 2007 12:18 pm

Yesterday, a special flight occurred at Langley AFB in preparation for the AirPower over Hampton Roads Airshow. This flight included the F-22 demo pilot Major Paul "Max" Moga and the 6 aircraft of the Thunderbirds.

Here are some pictures courtesy of AirForce Link.

Steve has posted a video of the flight. I'm sure Hollywood was working uber hard, having not flown formation in a year or two.

You know it!!! Talk about muscle memory or lack there of, while calling for "smoke off" two hundred dozen times a week...

Stinger lineup looks like 2-1-Raptor-3-6 with 4-5 in trail. Wedge looks like 5-2-1-Raptor-3-6-4.

On the video posted I noticed a 7th plane flying nearby the formation, time of the video was 1 min 50 secs.

Was that the F-15 taking pictures of the formation?

Most probably the 2nd picture posted above!!!!

Yes, Tech Sgt Justin D. Pyle was riding in the backseat of the 8th aircraft seen momentarily in the video, taking these pictures! 8)
