Flight Helmet for Sale...

Post by takeone » Thu Apr 12, 2007 11:45 pm

hmmmm this is interesting...

http://cgi.ebay.com/L-K-USAF-THUNDERBIR ... dZViewItem

Pawn shop in LV...? So they say....

No name or USAF logo on top of helmet....
Also...the visor is interesting with that "mirror" style...

Is that current ?

I own a helmet from the late 70's early 80's....

Visor is dk. black. Don't know if I've ever noticed a "newer style" visor on the pilots.

also...take a look at the first picture...there is a Thunderbird business card "clipped" to the O2 hose....WOW....

Not sure about the visor. Being an old helmet (as in not this year), the visor or helmet itself could be a dublicate, replica or custom made? The visors have been black for a very long time and I'm not sure if they are using the Oakley visors yet or not (should ask Bloke as he was supposed to have a hand in that). The team was going to get them for this year with the reflective chrome! Even if they did get them in time for the season start, this helmet is most certainly not that new...

Could be early 00's sometime possibly? I think I've seen them use reflective visors at one point early this decade. Who knows? It's eBay! 8)

The auction has ended, but its a fake... There are alot of people try to replicate Thunderbird & Blue Angel Flight gear for HUGE profits on ebay.

The Stars are too far apart for a start & where the people screw up these replicas is alot of them use a gloss paint & not the flat colour thats triple clearcoated Lori Knight uses. Lori by the way is a great friend of mine & has done the artwork on EVERY Thunderbirds & Blue Angels helmet in the last 6 years... Before you ask.. even knowing Hollywood & FiFi on the real Thunderbirds & Lori that makes them, not even I can get a real genuine T'Birds Flight Helmet, but then again, I think mine looks way cooler anyway!..

These are the "Chrome" visors LD is talking about..

Heres the new design for our "Cranium Covers"

Bloke, what ever happened to the Tbirds Oakley visors?

Btw, I saw (and heard) your F-104 in the overhead break at PIE from a vantage point of 8,000ft directly over the field about a week ago just after departing Tampa Intl. :D

Yup, you sure did!

That was "Comrade" & "Shark" returning from Kennedy Space Center after we flew the first pathfinder missions for the new sub-orbital vehicles.

Oh. T'Birds Visors.

Hollywood & the team decided not to go with them... No biggie.
