I personally use Pinnacle Studio 9/10, but Windows Movie Maker comes with Windows XP and does all of the basics.

Seahawk-
I haven't asked LD myself, but from the quality of his video I'm assuming he uses Sony Vegas. Most of the guys turning out top quality vids use it. I use Vegas 5 myself - great editing program. It's a little pricy, but you get what you pay for...I think they have a 30 day trial.

To make a good video you need like these 3 :

Adobe Photoshop .. Paintshop , anything good for image editing.
Adobe After effects .
The video editing can be done at any program realy , you can use windows movie maker, adobe premiere, but i recomend you to use Sony Vegas.

i bet you preffered buying an home cockpit for this price ! ... but get me on msn.

My personal choice:
Sony Vegas 6.0 for video/audio editing
Photoshop CS2 for image editing

LD-
If you are still around tonight, I'd love to pick your brain a little regarding your video.
I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am with the quality, editing, effects, etc, etc... One of the reasons I got turned on with LOMAC is the abilty to make videos. I think I've seen most of the videos made with LOMAC, and you make the best! I've made a few myself using Fraps for capture and Vegas 5 for editing, and I've played around with settings & such, but I can't come close to the resolution and quality of the HD 2006 promo. I've been flying A-10's doing the CAS thing in LOMAC for six months, but when I saw your vid a month ago it changed my life - sounds sappy, but considering the dedication you guys show, I think you understand.
Questions:
1) Do you use Fraps or LOMAC AVI renderer.
2) What settings do you use in Vegas (Template, resolution, fps etc)
3) Most important - what compression tool? I can't believe you can get that quality and resolution in under 59 megs!! I burned it on a DVD, and it looks incredible on my 65" bigscreen!
4) Am I a pain in the a$$ for asking so many questions?
5) Do you remember the scene in Wayne's World when Wayne and Garth meet Alice Cooper? (I'm not worthy........)

Fraps, recorded at 1/2 speed playback in LOMAC, full size Fraps capture (max res is 1152x864 otherwise Fraps defaults to half size).
2) What settings do you use in Vegas (Template, resolution, fps etc)
WMV-HD, CBR, 8 sec buffer, 5 keyframes per sec, 3M bitrate (could be higher, but file size goes up) and 100% sharpness and best render quality. Since you capture in Fraps with 1/2 speed, the playback rate in Vegas is 200% to equal normal speed and gives you smooth fps up to the render setting of 30 fps.

No compression other than Vegas. See above answer.

Nah! :P

Ha ha! Sure do...

LD

P.S. If you think the promo 2006 video is cool, wait until you see the The Movie! It's in production as we speak...

I can't wait!!!
I didn't tell you that I have the 2006 promo vid on a continuous loop with Burner's video, a couple T-bird vids I pulled off the History & Military channels and three I made of my formation and solo practice sessions. I work at home, & I have it running every waking hour next to my desk...
God, am I obsessed or what :?:

Thanks for the tips - I think I'm going to have to upgrade to Vegas 6 for the settings you use, I don't see them in Vegas 5.

Sony Vegas 5 has these settings and yes, you obviously have turned to the dark side already! :P

I'll play around with it some more - The HD WMV's I've made so far are over 100 Megs I'm missing something somewhere.

And about that dark side...I'm older than you so you aren't my father
