Wow... Doesn't anyone over there take safety first?

The operator is only wearing a LAP BELT, no helmet, no safety straps, no cockpit enclosure.

The camera man is pretty much underneath the rig.

And the reporter is directly underneath the rig while it's ascending and was looking down at the camera next to him and wasn't worrying about if the damn thing dropped while he was under it.

My Goodness, great German design...but who designed the Germans' brains?

It's called putting your money where your mouth is!

With the Germans I wouldn't say they're over-confident or unsafe by any stretch of the imagination, they know it'll work. This isn't the first time in history a calculated risk was taken by people who know exactly what they're doing and the effect is absolutely what they're looking for... it simply works!

(Obviously the reporter on site and the cameraman were most likely employees of Liebherr  ).

You mean like making a blimp out of thermite and filling it with hydrogen and carrying passengers aboard? :D

What could possibly go wrong? How hard can it be?

My roots are strongly enough German that I can say things probably haven't changed all that much.

As long as it's on time, everything's fine. ;)
