Well of course I know they know about the browser problem, but that doesn't help anyone who doesn't have the beta yet . It's also a pretty big bug, that honestly, I would wait to get the beta until after a patch if I didn't already have it.Tailhook wrote:@zeitzeph- If you took the time to read "the scroll" in the gray line under the main menu it reads they know about the problems with the Server Browser and to use Play Now instead.

Not only that but I think there is a problem with DX9 support. I'm playing along and when it gets FPS laggy on this older system, it will CTD but remain running. I can click to re-open it and it opens to a totally white screen with sounds still going and then after 30 seconds comes back slowly as if the DirectX failed.zeitzeph wrote:It's also a pretty big bug, that honestly, I would wait to get the beta until after a patch if I didn't already have it.
Will it run on my four year old desktop (Nvidia 8800) you think?
MW2 runs pretty good even close to maxed out and in 1920x1080 resolution for reference. I know it's about time to build a new gaming rig, but money is tight and the times don't quite warrant a big splurge. I just wanted to see if it runs better, worse or the same compared to MW2 before I buy a copy.

I'm sure it would. I got full high settings with no vsync and still get 60+ fps on my 5770 at 1440x900.Lawndart wrote:Will it run on my four year old desktop (Nvidia 8800) you think?

The CTD's with BC2 are caused by a DirectX or video driver failure. Newer ATi cards have a Crash Recovery function built in with Catalyst that restarts the driver and has been helpful for me recently. My last card was a 7600GS AGP so you guys are on your own with Nvidia.
On the back of the retail box, the system requirements:
OS: W7, Vista, XP
CPU: Pentium D, 3.0Ghz / Intel C2D 2.0 / AMD Athlon 64 X2 or faster
RAM: 2GB or more
Video: DX9/10/11 compatible video card
Recommended:
OS: Vista or W7
CPU: C2Q @ 2.0Ghz
RAM: 2GB or more
Video: Must be 512 MB or greater - GeForce GTX260 / ATi Radeon 4870
(Above recommend) Video card must be 256MB or more and contain these chipsets or better: NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT; ATI X1900. Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported. Updates to your video and sound card drivers may be required.

I just downloaded it - will give it a try tonight.
*EDIT* Can't play it on Steam in Vista - "Game is currently unavailable error". I've tried all sorts of fixes over the last month to fix the same issue with Fear 2, no solution.
It has something to do with Microsoft C++ 2005 Redistributable not installing correctly/corrupted. I've been trying to find a fix for that so I can get a successful re-install, but no luck with that either. Looks like I'll need to reformat if I want to play it.
I can play it in XP - but don't even want to bother if I can't run anti-aliasing, since it'd be running DX9.

I would buy it ASAP, but I only have a few days off (home) until the end of March. I will most likely get a copy of BC2 soon, but figured I'd wait until the dust settles and the first patch is released (fixing all the rumored bugs and CTDs) since I won't have any time to throw down for several weeks.Sinister wrote:COME ON LD, LETS GET THIS MUTHA STARTED!!!
Besides, you could use a head start anyway Sinister!
